Carey moved to RG

High school kids? He was banging heads with 1st round picks like Dan Williams, and dominating about 40 other NFL prospects throughout his 4 years in the SEC...

He dominated the best NFL prospects in the country in "the pit" at the Senior Bowl. John Jerry seems to be suffering from Andre Smithitis... and believe me, that's not a lack of ability... it's a lack of dedication..

Well however you want to get to the conclusion, but the end result is a slow, weak, lazy lineman who is about to get cut. Senior bowl domination and all still different then the day in and day out NFL and you know this. Like I said waste of a pick and talent! Just like our QB he has a ten cent head!

He was overage because he went to Hargrave Military Academy before attending Ole Miss.... his age has nothing to do with his current level of dedication, or lack thereof.

Was Ginnger overage? Jamarcus Russell? Ryan Leaf? There's a lot of kid's that come into the league at around age 25 and do well....

But you're right, it's the front office's job to know what they're getting when they burn a draft pick on a kid... no way around it.

One more thing outside of Long our quote "oline guru" has yanked on every Damnnnnnn upgrade he has acquired outside Long and I think you and I can put some serious question marks to that " whistle false start offense 77"

If it aint broke, dont fix it. It better be Gardner or Jerry playing RT. I dont want Colombo.

john jerrys not slow...he ran low 5's in the 40 at the combine...slimms got it right...kids got plenty of talent and lacks desire...oh well...i'll take a chance on the talented kids over the overachievers anyday...especially with a 3rd round pick

he was plenty talented enough to burn a 3rd rounder on...plenty

Obviously... However, the point is that John Jerry is capable of locking down that right guard spot if he wanted it bad enough, and in turn, that would go a long ways towards helping settle down a lot of this chaos on the offensive line... which is why I'm disappointed in him...

When you can't count on guys you spend a 3rd round pick on to help your football team, it tends to cause a domino effect. You're always chasing your tail... you can never get a step ahead like that. You're always making moves to cover for your mistakes.... just so you can put a unit on the field that can function.

The problem with me is, and always has been this regime's obsession with the offensive line, and lack of interest in the quarterback position. That's what is going to get 'em in the long run regardless...

They chose to rebuild a franchise around an offensive lineman.... we're at plan "X and Y" now... and there's only so many letters left for them in the alphabet..

How many times do I see you tell people combine speed ain't football speed? I don't care if he ran a 3.2 forty. His fat lazy slow *** has been getting eaten up like camp fodder since day 1. I didn't say he had no ability I said hr has mo work ethic!

****! We can't trust them with the first overall pick! Henne, Merling how about those dominos!

Like I said, the writing is on the wall . . . it is put up or shut up time, I don't even wanna analyze these moves these guys are making anymore it is time for them to prove it in the win column or get out and let the next group take a shot. You take your first round pick and draft a Center, your third round pick last year was a OG, you passed on Ryan for Jake and later in that draft you take 2 more Guards, you sign big contracts to Smiley and Grove, you make Vernon the highest paid RT . . . .and 4 years later you still have no idea what your OLine is? I mean I dunno man . . . if you can't even figure out the part of the team that is your area of expertise how can it be possible to find hope for other areas? You can't even defend these moves any more w/o getting some return back on your defense. It is just time to sit back and hope it happens and if they don't then let the criticisms rain, because they are well deserved at that point, and that is being generous.

AMEN brother!!!! Well said. I refuse to stress over the matter anymore. I am just going to sit back, wait for the finish product, and hope for the best.

No disrespect intended , at all , however his being overage is and was a hugely important factor.

Wheeden is even more of an overage player , and I see some noted talent posters saying he is a potential 1st round pick , and imo that would be gravely wrong. Jerry was an overage player that played well , not great imo , and that he played as well as he did was a direct result of him being significantly older.

I have experienced this for many years in sports , I played at a pretty competitive level in three sports and then was involved in scouting in one of them ( hockey ) . Many states have a rule that if you are born past a certain date in the calender year you can not attend grade one till the next year and they also have sport rules in this regard. His age , for me was a factor , and while I thought he was a good player , I felt he was drafted too high and am not surprised to see him making no impact. None.

To me being overage is a bright red flag , and you have to be very dilligent in evaluating these players. Miami took a couple more this year but their circumstances are different and they were drafted later , and one has rare speed which we desperately need. You have to evaluate each player on his own , but an overage G had me very very cautious .

It better be Garner or Jerry at RT then. If these clueless bozos really start Colombo at RT...............

do you really really think that i don't know there's a difference b/t track speed and football speed??? i mean really

You won't ever hear me say Brandon Weeden is a 1st round pick...

You always have to factor age in, and be weary of overage college prospects... but it's not immediate grounds for dismissal. Perhaps in the 1st round, but not in the 3rd round.. John Beck's age was a factor for me... Chris Wienke was too old...

Hell, Jim Kelly was 27 when he entered the league... there's too many to name. But back then you had the USFL, where players could go and develope before entering the NFL... you don't have that anymore.

Reggie White, Steve Young, Jim Kelly, etc.. a lot of Hall of Fame players played in the USFL before entering the NFL.

John Jerry's age isn't why he's wasting away... that's not the problem.
