With a few rumors going around that he could be linked to Miami, what's the story behind this guy? Good, bad? Was he forced to resign or was he just tired of the chiefs?

He could bring Schottenheimer with him,...

Hmmm.. I'm not sure I'd be adverse to that.

Martyball no thanks..That guy is super conservative. He is Sparano and Wanny but he has won alot of games I will give him that..

Young Schotty I could see that..

all you need to know is that he traded a 4th round pick to the jest for Herm Edwards (when they would have probably paid him to take the contract off their hands).

So did you think that was a good move or a bad move?

I mean the guy had one of the greatest sound bites ever...I would have traded for him.

Yep.. The Chargers haven't been the same since. He got Rivers, he got Tomlinson in his prime, Merriman..
Shotty knows how to build teams. Yet I doubt he wants to move to the east coast.

Young Shotty would be interesting. My enthusiasm is cooling for big name coaches. With the exception of Fisher.

I thought Marty was coaching a UFL team on the east coach? I think he maybe just too damn old to be coaching again...Its all about the assistants that you can bring in with you as well...I dont know if assistants would be froathing at the mouth to work for old Marty. Gruden and Cower could get alot of young good assitants. You know young Schotty would be calling the plays..

I have a gut feeling that Gruden or Cowher will bring us more of what we've had over the past 10 years. Lots of hype but no production. Gruden inherited a team from Dungy and won a SB, he couldn't build a winner in Oakland. Cowher was a coach for the Steellers for how many years before he won a championship? Do you really think he'd get that patience here? I'm not so sure.

I agree with your earlier statement. We need young fresh talent coaching this team, and that means the head coach too.

If we have a shot at Luck then I would rather have Gruden...I think he can do more with a great qb than Cowher can..Your right abou the steelers and Gruden tho.He had alot of time to win there..All tho he did win alot of games as well..and the steelers dont waste too many draft picks..

I wouldn't look for Peterson to get TOO involved other than helping guide Ross on people to put in place in key positions, like Parcells was supposed to do.

Peterson himself is about 67 or 68 years old. What I think he might like to do is help Ross find someone like him, that could be Stephen Ross' trusted adviser and the head of all football operations. That someone could be Russ Ball who is Ted Thompson's right hand man. Ball was a strength and conditioning coach for 15 years with Missouri and Kansas City, after getting a masters in human performance. He then became Marty Schottenheimer's Administrative Assistant for two years, following him to Washington for his brief stay there. He's overseen a lot of football administrative and other operations from player development to caps and contracts, advance scouting, etc.

Point being anyway that when Peterson took the job in Kansas City and hired Marty Schottenheimer, Russ Ball was one of the guys they hired into the Chiefs organization and kept around for 10 years. So Carl Peterson knows Russ Ball pretty well. Russ Ball could then go about filling his posts with talented scouting directors and personnel directors, player development directors, head coach, and everything overseen by him.

I also think that if Gruden would have got his hands on Calvin Johnson he may still be in Tampa.

is russ ball the guy who thompson gives credit for a lot of the packers personnel and draft decisions??? is that the guy i'm thinking of...if so we could use someone like that
