Good TE's have been having a field day on us all season. The only other game we have played before now without facing a good TE was Buffalo and that happens to be the only game this year we won convincingly.

1) Gonzalez 5/73/1
2) Clark 7/183/1
3) Gates 5/64/0
4) Buffalo - We held their no name TE's to 0 stats
5) Keller - Held him to no stats
7) Shocky 4/105/0
8) Keller 8/76/1 (guess we could only stop him once)
9) Watson 4/49/0 (could have put up big #'s but w/moss and welker gutting us they did not need him)
10) Winslow 7/102/0

The Panthers have 3 TE's and none are outstanding but 2 have scored twice so we should still beware in the redzone.

Jeff King season stats 15/145/2
Dante Rosario 12/163/2
Gary Barnidge 7/130/0

This TE group is very similar to Buffalo's so lets hope for the same results.

Nice job noticing that. Hopefully you're right.

Hopefully Steve Smith is out too so that will negate a lot of their passing threat.

Who else do they have at WR?

The only thing on offense that frightens me is DeAngelo Williams, he can be electrifying. I believe we stopped him in the preseason though

The TE's have consistently shredded this defense all season. If Carolina's TE have a big game I can't say I'll be surprised.

they have moose. i'd be very shocked if smith was out.

Sometimes our defense has a bad habit of making stars out of no-names.

:err:

Not sure where all the "Smith is gonna be out" talk is coming from. Smith took a hit last Sunday and remained in the game and never missed a down. He practiced fully today.

The Panther TEs are all interchangeable. Rarely will Carolina run formations with more than 2 WRs (Smith and Moose). The TEs are being used a little more heavily this year than in the past.....but there isn't 1 guy to look for. TEs have always been more of an asset in the run game under Fox.

Moose is getting old but was close to having a 1000 yard season last year in a run dominated offense playing w/ Steve Smith. Jake was so bad early on it is tough to really tell where Moose is any longer. He missed some games and Sunday was his first day back and had 90+ yards.

Like who? Seriously I'm asking for an example. I think we have just played a brutal schedule with a lot of top flight players.

That Donte Rosario guy killed us in the preseason. Yes, it was the preseason, but I can't really say that we've made any adjustments that would keep him from racking up yards on us.

Rosario had 3/54/0 one of his receptions went for 24yds
King had 2/30/0 and one was a 22yd gain

On a side note Hillard went 9/52/1 in that game

Heres the box score from that game if anyone else is a stat nerd like me.

averaged 5 yards a pop and had a TD.

He averaged 5 a carry because he broke a long one. Outside of that he was kept under control. We also have Ferg back and Crowder is playing the run pretty well this year, so I really don't think he will have a huge game. He will still get his yards and most likely a score but I don't see him destroying us or anything.

Before Ferg got hurt we were #1 against the run and I think we are getting back on track as far as our run D goes.

Our Tight End schedule gets considerably easier from here on out...

Carolina: Jeff King, Dante Rosario
Buffalo: Derek Fine, Shawn Nelson
New England: Ben Watson, Chris Baker
Jacksonville: Marcedes Lewis, Ernest Wilford
Tennessee: Bo Scaife, Alge Crumpler
Houston: Joel Dreessen, Anthony Hill (Remember, Owen Daniels out for the year)
Pittsburgh: Heath Miller, Matt Spaeth

The tight end has absolutely been an Achilles heel for this defense. It certainly helps that the guys we face from here on out won't threaten us as much as the guys we faced prior.
