Raiders | Carr not thrilled with Raiders opening
Sun, 1 Apr 2007 15:17:25 -0700
Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reporting for the Sporting News, reports free-agent QB David Carr will probably not join the Oakland Raiders unless he is unable to find a better situation elsewhere. Carr isn't thrilled about the idea of joining a team that likely will take a franchise-type quarterback in this year's draft.

Raiders were planning on CJ or Russell anyways. Best case scenario is, Carr ends up on a QB needy team ahead of us (Minnesota, Detroit) and Raiders pick CJ, leaving Browns to pick Russell considering how much Savage loves him, and that leaves Brady Quinn available for us.

Are you saying that you dont think we are going to draft a qb then?

I do believe that the Dolphins will draft a QB....just not Quinn. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they bring in at least two QB's...one drafted and one free agent.

If Culpepper really isnt going to be given a chance then yes I see Mueller bringing in exactly what you said, one drafted and another free agent. But if Cpep stays then I just see us drafting one.

What qb do you think we will draft then?

Now thats the million dollar question....I'm looking at Kolb as my best guess.

Whats you take on Kolb fishypete?

I expect Carr to wait till he gets a promise from a team not to draft a QB. Otherwise he'll go to the Seahawks. I think it's pretty obvious what team he wants to join.

Whats you take on Kolb fishypete?

Accurate, Decent size with great feet....has more than enough arm to make every throw.

Mobile passer with the nimble feet to make all of his throws when rolling out of the pocket…Displays good arm strength and accuracy on sideline, screens, slants and crossing routes…Has enough foot speed and balance to be a threat running with the ball and shows good body control in his pass set-up…Can slide and avoid, doing a nice job of escaping pressure and creating when on the move…Does whatever he can to stay alive in the pocket, as he picks up defensive schemes quickly and has no problems taking plays from the chalkboard to the field…Best when making calls at the line of scrimmage, as he does a good job of scanning the field…Can pull the ball down and make something out of a broken play with his feet and is pretty accurate throwing on the move…Has adequate quickness dropping back from center to his pass-set point and is able to get good depth due to his fine balance and quick feet….The ball comes off Kolb's hand with average zip and good touch….

When he uses a compact ¾ release and steps into his throws, his release is much more compact and natural…Throws the long ball with adequate touch and accuracy, zips the posts and even when he passes off his back foot, he is still able to generate good velocity…Shows better accuracy with underneath tosses…Puts good air behind the short fade routes, knowing when to take something off those throws…Can zip the pass into tight coverage away from the defender, demonstrating placement and has the awareness and ability to slide in the pocket and continue to scan down field (but seemed to regress in 2005)…Can escape the rush due to his nimble feet and is instinctive knowing when he has to bail…Big, athletic scrambler who throws with ease on the run, whether from the right or left hash.

It's between the Vikings and the Dolphins for Carr

I read that the Vikings invested a 2nd rd pick on Tavaris Jackson and that they actually traded up to get him. Can anyone confirm if that is accurate?
If it is true then it is unlikely they will draft Quinn.
However, I still believe that if Quinn gets past Cleveland, Mueller will try to trade up with the Bucs or Redskins to get ahead of the Vikings

I don't think they traded up; I know that they did reach for him because alot of teams were hoping he would fall to the 3rd/4th round and Brad really liked this guy.
