I cant believe Nolan Carroll, Dimitri Patterson & Chris Clemons, have been signed for a combined $6.85m against the 2014 cap, while we have just shelled out $9m on two injury prone players in Courtland Finnegan & Louis Delmas.

The 3 mentioned were already familiar with system, would count less against salary cap and would have provided far better depth and future potential than the 2 signed.

Where is the sense???

Massively disappointed!!!!!!!

I'm not a big fan of the Finnegan signing, but, I have no issue letting any of the ones we let go, let go.

I would much rather have guys on my team who...

...just hope they're not too reckless or they might blow up in our face.

I have seen enough of the guys you mentioned and couldn't watch one more down! Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results = insanity.

i love patterson when he was healthy and on the field (which was a rarity last year). i feel it was a mistake to not resign him somehow. clemons and carroll not so much.

Never liked Carroll so im glad he has been replaced, we replaced an injury prone Patterson with Finnigan who isnt injury prone (pretty sure broken orbital bones arent recurring injuries), and replaced Clemons who was solid but thats all. Clemons didnt play with an edge like Delmas and he didnt make plays either.

so i my eyes we replaced Carroll with a high potential rookie in Taylor.... Taylor>Carroll
got a guy who plays with an edge and a proven leader over average..... Delmas > Clemons
and if Finnegan plays anything like he did before last year....................Finnegan>Patterson (unless patterson can manage a full 16 game season at the level he played when he was healthy)

I want a safety to make plays and have some key game changing interceptions... I think Clemons had like 3-4 career INT's as a starter for 4 years, that's just not cutting it! Chris Clemons is a backup, marginal player that was mediocre for years here, chasing down long gains! Good luck in Houston! I think Delmas will have a big impact in the secondary, Finnegan I'm not so sure... I saw a game last season where he look like Crap.

Let's keep the "same old, same old" so we can be the "same old, same old"
Missing the playoffs every year and talking about what could have been is so much fun year after year!

I agree with you. Delmas is very overrated on this board, and Finnegan was horrible last year. I'm not a Carroll fan, but I don't understand why we didn't keep Clemons, possibly in addition to Delmas. I get cutting Patterson, but there were much better options out there for his replacement.

I don't miss Clemons at all, but Carroll was developing nicely. Carroll was getting better every year, and will probably develop into a solid starter at some point imo.

I think Patterson should have been resigned also. If given the choice, I'd take Patterson and Carroll over Finnegan.

It was time for a change. I'm on board.

I was getting tired of Carroll being picked on all the time and getting burned.

we have a few rooks expected to develop, and as such we got rid of the guys who have shown us everything they have (mediocrity and prone to injury)

For those complaining about Patterson's injury history.....well Delmas is right on par with Patterson on injuries.

I would have resigned Nolan Carroll. At a minimum he provided decent depth. He improved significantly last season and we would have been in trouble without him. However, he's gone, along with Clemmons and Patterson. We don't know what we have in Jamar Taylor and Will Davis. They may turn out terrific but we've seen little to date.
