Dolphins defensive end Kevin Carter said his agent, Harold Lewis, is scheduled to meet with the Dolphins this week about restructuring his contract. Carter said he fully expects to be back with the team next season.

"I wasn't worried about it before I got here and people started asking me about it," Carter said. "There's nothing that I can do until I hear differently from my agent and I haven't heard that."

Carter, who will be 34 on Sept. 21, is scheduled to count about $6.5 million against the Dolphins' $109 million salary cap for the 2007 season. He is signed through 2009.

Hopefully he resigns or else cut him.

Thanks for the link Crypt.

Carter is a class act. Guy shouldn't even have to restructure, unfortunately this game is a business. I'm glad to see he is all about the team though, not alot of those guys left.

That's interesting, not in that he's restructuring (we all knew that was going to happen if he came back), but that he came back. I guess he wants to give Roth another year.

man, he's way up there. Give Roth more playing time, and let this guy go. He's a great locker room voice, but we've got a good amount of those kinda of players already. Not worth it, let's spend the money somewhere else.

He said his agent was meeting with the Fins about restructuring. So if that happens, that actually saves us some money in the short term.

More Great News, Keeping Carter and him wanting to Restructure is awesome. Carter is a class act and he shouldnt even be considered for getting cut. There are other players on this team like Joey Harrington, Dan Wilkinson, Bennie ANderson, Jeno James and Mare that should be flat out cut. As far as restructuring if anyone needs to restructure his contract it should be Chambers if not goodbye, trade him to move up in the Draft.

that's totally fine, as long as he doesn't have a problem taking a backseat to younger guys like Roth. Now is the time to get younger.

That's huge. We definitely need him back next year. If he restructures his contract, we'll have some more cap room for FA & the Draft.

He is restructuring, maybe; he isn't taking a paycut. He is on the record saying he is willing only to restructure. He isn't giving up one dollar. I guess he thinks he is worth it. So do I. I'm not sure, however, that the Dolphins should be the ones paying him. He still might get cut, but I doubt it.

I like carter, but i would be a little more excited if he was willing to take a paycut rather than restructure.

I disagree. KC still is a force on the DL. We need to keep our rotation on that line ongoing. Roth, Vickerson, Wright and Wright will eventually take over, but all of them are not ready yet. JT needs a complement on the opposite side, otherwise he will be double-tripled every play. Roth is not an every down player yet.
