NFL.Com's Vince Carucci's latest Mock draft makes me wonder how some of these guys stay employed as 'experts.' In addition to having the Fins taking Alan Branch (a mild reach I would say) he makes this brilliant statement:

"Penn State linebacker Paul Posluszny makes sense, too, because linebacker is a crying need"

I had to read it several times to make sure I wasn't missing something. Linebacker is a CRYING NEED?!?!? Posluszny at #9? I think Mr. Carucci should resign immediately and not pass go and not collect his $200.

Perhaps Mr. Carucci should peruse the Dolphin's lack of depth in the secondary and their overall offensive situation to find his crying needs. Just brutal.

I agree about the Posluszny - given he probably wouldn't start from day one. But Branch at 9 seems reasonable, Traylor's getting old and we still don't know if Manuel Wright or Fred Evans will cut it as his NT replacement.

Before the Porter signing, OLB was a crying need. And if he busts an ACL or something this season, it will become one again. We have very little depth at the linebacker spots.

Not only that, but the guy would be a major reach at #9.. forget the fact that LB is not nearly a "crying need".

Ridiculous. Though I think Branch is a better possibility than you think. Still though, pretty horrendous journalism right there.

Can't argue with that. But I don't think you draft a player that high out of concern that one of your starters might blow their ACL when there's no reason to believe that will happen. With Thomas, Crowder and Porter - while not deep - it's hard to argue that this is an area of crying need given what the offensive line and secondary look like right now - especially the line.

After the apparent work over he took from Tim Krumrie at his pro day, I'm not sure I'm all that enamoured with him. But then again, that was just the talk. His play at school certainly spoke volumes. No doubt, DT wouldn't be a 'terrible' pick if they get an impact player. Perhaps he can play LT when the offense is out there too.

I agree but actually secondary depth looks pretty good after signing Worrell and Lehan. It's the lack of an elite corner and a football brilliant safety that make our secondary less than great.

This team needs a OLB if we draft 1 in the 1st 3 rounds(which more then not wont happen).

Plus the fact that Willis would be a lock if we needed a ILB.

But we don't know if Branch would be his replacement either since all 3 are not proven in the NFL.....Wouldn't mind Branch though.

Manny's really a DT more than he is a NT....I'd be ok with us drafting Branch....the guy can be a beast in the middle and he'd have some great players around him...still think we'll take Ginn at 9 if he's healthy.

Ozzy rules!!

I wouldn't call it a crying need. A minor need sure but Posluszny isn't going to really be able to step in immediately anyways. In addition, we do still have Derrick Pope, who has filled in admirably as emergency starter in the past. Not to mention there are a few good candidates later on in the draft.

taking Branch with #9 would be a mistake cause we got Traylor, Evans, Vickerson and the Wrights for that spot...........if we don't trade down, our first pick should be an elite CB/S (Landry -Hall) or a DE that fits our 3-4 defense (Carriker is the best)

McShay too. I was listening him break down the Redskins the other day. He was talking about how after the 6th pick Washington does not have a pick until the 4th round. He then went on to say that Washington should really look at a WR with their 4th round pick because its a glaring need.
