C,mon. With a story like this, and what this guy is going through, you can't help but pull for him. Besides, his attitude seems great and he's doing verything he can to go out and "WIN" the job. (e.g. Putting on 10 pounds of MUSCLE, studying hard, helping his teammates, etc.)

These are the type of guys I believe the Trifecta are looking for & the type of guys I want on MY Miami Dolphins team.

Go Eric Green!

Yea I read that earlier this morning, anytime you have a situation like that it's tough....My heart goes out to him and anyone else who's lost a child..

If he works out you really have to hand it to the front office. Their investment thesis on him was that they wanted to get a player that had physical ability, a history of playing well, but that had a big chip on his shoulder and something he wanted to prove. They knew he was not a good CB in 2008 at all, but that he was a much better one in 2007 and there were reasons (injury, personal) that might explain his poor 2008 showing. They're rolling the dice that if they give him the opportunity and the tools to prove that 2008 was a fluke, he'll take advantage and run with it.

So far it's promising, but nothing was ever proven in padless OTAs or mini-camps.

It is amazing what loosing someone close to you at a younger age will do. I understand this lesson too well myself. He is right about it putting a new aspect on life and the way you approach it. Never take anything for granted and life could always be worse so make the best of what you have.

Yep - the Trio really seems to have found a knack for identifying undervalued guys who, b/c of injury or personal reasons, are coming off sub-par years (thus being undervalued) but have ceilings to get back to their best playing days or even better than that.

You saw a similar MO behind the trade for Jason Ferguson (I think he was coming off an injury plagued year) and the signing of Jake Grove (who would've been even more expensive if not for his injury in 2008).

Then of course Eric Green, and also Gibril Wilson who also would've been even more expensive if not coming with the Raiders-discount (see Randy Moss when he was traded away by OAK for only a 4th!).

Oh, and how about JT coming off his down year?!?!

Last year, we seemed to have a "perfect storm" of good luck/moves/decisions/schedule and this year, it's almost looking that way again.

Only our injuries at OG derailed us last year and this year, I see only our schedule (and always possibly injuries) derailing what should be a playoff year.

If Grove blocks like he did in OAK (where they've been making the likes of Justin Fargas and Lamont Jordan look like All Pro RBs) and our defensive vets like Ferg, Wilson, JT, Bell, Green stay healthy (along with all the young help), I see no reason why we can't make the playoffs - schedule be damned. Maybe we don't win the division but we should be one of the top 6 teams in the AFC.

I think the underlying theme is getting players whose best football looks to be ahead of them because they have something to prove or they've yet to play in ideal circumstances.

Gibril Wilson probably wants to prove that he's not an Oakland Raider, lol. Sort of like how DeAngelo Hall wanted to prove he's not an Oakland Raider, and he played damn well for the Skins.

Jake Grove has a lot of talent but has yet to play his ideal football in ideal circumstances, and yet to really get recognition as among the top at his position. The Dolphins will take a crack at giving him those ideal circumstances.

Eric Green has the physical talent and the motivation to prove he's something closer to the 2007 Eric Green than the 2008 Eric Green. Plus, after the harrowing experience his family went through in 2008, moving back home couldn't hurt in terms of giving him more stability.

Jason Taylor, you know he damn well wants to prove that 2008 was a fluke.

Cameron Wake, you know he damn well wants to show that the NFL made a mistake not drafting him and the Giants made a mistake cutting him before he had a chance to really show anything.

I think that's an over-arching theme that you'll see a lot when it comes to Miami's acquisitions. It would surprise me if they signed someone that was at the pinnacle of his game, like an Albert Haynesworth or Jason Brown, etc.

Good Story......I didn't know he was so young, only 4th yr in the league, and to go through something so tragic last yr it makes sense why his production dropped off....I like the make up of this team, they work hard in the offseason....from the reports I am seeing everyone has put on added muscle in the offseason program and if they all are here lifting weights and watching film, imagine the chemistry they are building.......the season can't get here fast enough for me.........

His signing reminds me of Andre Goodman's. But, we could only hope he turns out to play like Goodman...because that turned out to be one lucky signing,

After watching the replay of the Pats game, he cant be worst than Jason Allen. So I already consider him an upgrade, espically since J Allen is all the way in the bottom of our depth now.

J. Allen look really bad in that game. I can see why some people are betting against him making this team.
