Is it possible that an agreement has already been met and nothing will be said until the deadline? Don't know what the advantages or disadvantages would be to doing this, just wondering.

I dont think they would wait. If they had reached an agreement then they would of announced it. With the new agreement, teams the time to study it and see how it affects their cap and what not. no advantage at all in hiding the fact they came to an agreement.

no, there is a conference call today at 4 pm with all the owners. they are expecting to have a new CBA by COB tomorrow. They want the NFLPA to delay the start of the new year by a couple of days so they can get in line with the new rules. They wont hold up the announcement because players and agents as well as coaches will need to know. The ratification should take place thursday by the NFLPA with the owners signing off on Friday. If in fact the conference call gets it done. According to Kraft and Jones, they are so close that its expected.

:yeahthat:

Though I think we will here if an agreement is made either later today or tomorrow. The real deadline to get it done is Tomorrow at 4:00PM. All signs point that it will get done. :)

Well, by not announcing it and keeping people in suspense, they get to generate a lot of free publicity, but that would be the only benefit I could think of.

Like the nfl can keep a secret.
Just ask RW....

There is no reason to delay an announcement. I truly hope they get the deal done and it will be in place for years to come. The NFL shouldn't pull a 'hockey' or 'baseball' bonehead move.
