Cedric Benson Highlight film

That is a great video. That guy looks amazing! I just wish that he was more stable and his heart was in it a little more. On the other hand it would suck if we pass on him and he becomes the top RB in the league.

Just a question.... Did he do much before last season?

Really cool video. 2 things though.

1. After seeing the Wes Welker highlight video, every other highlight video is kinda dissapointing. If you guys havn't seen it, i'd suggest finding it asap. Best football video ever.

I never saw this one... did someone post it here?

Anyone have a link?

I'm a little disappointed in what I just saw there......this is his highlight video....his best plays.....and I just wasn't that impreesed.

I remeber watching a video of Kevin Jones last year and WOW!!! This didn't wow me at all. Even the video I saw for Stephen Jackson last year was better.

I'm not trying to trash the guy....because IF we do take him @ #2....I'm the biggest Benson fan out there......but nothing in that video showed me that he is worthy of being drafted that high.

and whoever commented on the quality of the opponents in the video had a very valid point.

This is OT, but does anyone have a copy of the Welker video? I found a link to it in the forum archives, but the link is dead.

I've been looking around and I can't find it up anywhere. I have it on my compter, and i'd be happy to share it any way I can. Is there someplace you can upload videos?

Im not sure if you noticed, but that was a highlight video of 7 games. If they were to make a highlight video of his career or even a season im positive it would be a lot more impressive.

He was that dominant every season. Although he wasnt asked to do as much before this last season because Texas had a vertical passing game with Roy Williams and Sloan Thomas. Most people had him going in the top 10 had he come out after his junior season, and a lot had him as the first runningback to be drafted.

First of all, I've never said I wanted anyone. And since no one else brought this up, it was directed at me.

Second of all, learn to do math. He's carried the ball 1112 times in 4 years and weighs only 212lbs. The bigger backs like Ricky (came in the nfl at 240-250lbs) and Alexander (230lbs) are bigger then he is.They can absorb more hits.

He's going to get atleast 325-350 carries a year. By the time he's 27 he's going to have over 3000 carries, and he's a powerback and gets hit almost all the time at a smaller weight... Which is why most power RB don't last in the NFL (Eddie George had only 4 good years). People like Emmitt Smith do because he never took big shots.

Eddie George had only four good years because he was an upright runner that took a lot of shots. Cedric Benson isn't that type of back. Sure, he's a power runner that rarely goes down on first contact, but he doesn't take many big hits. He runs with a low base, much like Ricky. Ricky had over 1,000 carries a the college level as well, and the only sign of wear and tear on his body was a bad shoulder. Earl Campbell was a guy that took a lot of straight on shots, therefore his career was short. Eric Dickerson was an upright runner that had 4-5 monster years and then 4-5 more very average to below average years for a hall of fame tailback.

Most running backs that start all four years at the college level will have 1,000 rushing attempts. That's only 250 rushes per season.

sorry say what you want, but i'd rather have benson over any other RB in this draft....i've seen him play a lot more than cadillac or brown and you know he can hold up being a work horse bc/ he's done it....not sold on the auburn guys b/c they spilt time...easy to look great when you're fresh, not a knock on them, i think they'll be great too, but i'd rather have a proven work horse...

He's not as fast as Ricky. When Ricky got in the open field he was as fast as anyone out there. Saying Benson is basically better is wrong.
Dude, don't put words in my mouth. I never said he was better. I said different. Ricky I think was probably more of a power runner, with speed. He was a superb back and I wish he were still here.

This guy just runs differently. More straight up and down, faster feet, and I think faster in the open field. Maybe not but pretty close. That is really irrelevant. The point is everyone is shying away from this guy because he has had so many carries and because they comapre him to RW. Not fair. RW only problem is that he ws a head case. Since I know no one here personally knows Benson, it is unfair to label him the same. He does not take the punishment that RW did. He looks like he has all the tools. I hope we get him.

Not impressed. Very few broken tackles, IMO. Isnt he supposed to be a power guy? And when good D's were lined up ala OU he did nothing. That video did little to raise his stock in my eyes.

Thank you. Some of you guys act like he is 87 years old. It's not as if we were going after Curtis Martin or Jerome Bettis.

The kid is 23 frykin years old!!!

He is sooo shifty, elusive, and possesses great vision. If you don't like Benson, it's just because you think he will be a Ricky Williams re-make. OK, so people question his character. He is NOT the same as Ricky. He's even been confronted about that and said he would not take the same pot-smoking, quitting path is predecessor at Texas took.

...And for those who question his competition. Tell me...what great defenses did Ladanian Tomlinson face in his collegiate days? Hmmm??? I'm waiting...

I would be ELATED if we got Cedric OR Ronnie Brown on draft day. Cedric is 23, Ronnie is 24, and either would be a cornerstone for Dolphins football for years to come.

LT also didnt get to run behind Texas's oline. Which is much better than TCU's.

Mike Williams please

Cedric Benson:
HS (sorry no carry totals)
Soph. 2,026 30 TDs
Jr. 3,526 44 TDs
Sr. 2,871 43 TDs

43-3 record, three straight state chips, I think you can guess his carries give or take.

I started watching him his freshman year alot because I heard about his hs stat line and I live in Austin, UT loves him if no one else does

Fresh. 223 1053 12 TDs
Soph. 305 1293 12 TDs
Jr. 258 1360 21 TDs
Sr. 326 1834 19 TDs

I think those are some pretty good stats, this is what makes me want to take Mike Williams at #2.

no wins vz OU
no 100 yrd games vz OU, he got three shots at it
in his final college game in the rose bowl he had 70 yrds no TDs
only 2 games this season did he not rush for over 100(92/70), avg 4.4 or better(4.0/3.0) or score a TD(0/0)....OU/UM

Vince Young has not been the QB for all the big game losses Benson's played in. I think he is a good back but not better value than Mike Williams or his teammate DJ. The AFC east run defenses are like 6 OU's a season
