There were talks about Wade Smith playing Center last year before he went on IR. Could it be they might have him at Center this year?

Why would they have re-signed McKinney for so much if Smith was going to start?

Hmmmm that sounds interesting. We always have McKinney if that does not work out

I doubt it now that McKinney has been re-signed. Besides McKinney, Hadnot is better than Smith at the C position too. I don't think W. Smith has much of a future in Miami anymore. I can't recall seeing one OL position Smith is able to play, and play well...

thats what i was thinking.. Maybe they signed McKinny as a back up plan in case Wade does not pan out. McKinneys contract is basicly a 1yr contract if you think how its layed out with only $900,000 bonus, and 2.5 roster bonus next year.

Smith will certainly get the chance to impress and I'm sure his versatility could lead to him being the top back-up all along the line.

"Versatility"???....At what, keeping the bench warm for the starters???...

W. Smith has done nothing to impress anyone in Miami. In fact, he was one of the worst OT's we've ever had. I think he's nothing but training camp fodder...

Sorry, I just don't see much there in terms of talent...

You're among the many that stereotype him as a crappy player because you saw what Freeney did to him in his rookie season at LT.

Let me throw you in there against one of the best edge rushers in the game with some crappy coaching and little motivation. Wonder how you'd do.

And I watched him get dominated all training camp long too. Regularly....

I don't think I would match-up very well. But I could certainly nail down the "ole' move" Smith has mastered....

He got dominated so many times that he was going to start before he broke his forearm...

McKinney was signed to a 1 year deal. It's definately an open camp battle. The first move Houck made when he got here was move Smith to center as he thought that Smith's best position would be center. Those 2 will likely battle it out (with possibly a draft pick added) as they both have 1 year left on their contracts.

I'm not going to debate this with you anymore. I've witnessed much more of W. Smith's woes than you ever will. You see, I actually go to the mini / training camps down here in Davie. I get to see him first hand, and I think my assumptions of Smith are much more accurate than yours for that reason....

You can sugar-coat Smith all you want, but that wont make him any better on the field. Until he proves to possess even average skills, you're reaching if you expect him to be starting in 2006...

He played pretty well as a rookie. He got blamed for a couple of things that had nothing to do with him, specifially that last Freeney sack that was Ricky Williams' fault and not Smiths. He can play T, G and OC which adds up to versatility.

If he'd done "nothing to impress anyone in Miami" then why is he on the roster, because last time I looked, there were a lot of offensive linemen without jobs. Unless of course you're speaking on behalf of the entire city of Miami in some sort of unprecedented poll, in which case, more power to you for turning that around and being able to give us the lowdown on what all 362,470 people in the city of Miami think about whether Wade Smith can play ball or not.
