CFL | Dolphins may let Williams play in the CFL
Sat, 29 Apr 2006 01:00:52 -0700
Perry Lefko, of the Toronto Sun, reports the Miami Dolphins are thinking about the possibility of allowing RB Ricky Williams to play for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts this year while he serves a one-year National Football League suspension for substance abuse. Agent Leigh Steinberg talked to a senior member of the Dolphins' management Thursday, April 27, about letting Williams come to Toronto. The Dolphins can decide to let Williams sit out the season and protect their investment or allow him to come to the CFL and play.

I say let him play. If he doesn't play at all this year it would mean the guy would have played about a dozen games in 3 years. Let him get the work in. If he gets seriously injured, oh well. It's not like he's going to be depended on in 2007 anyway.

hmm. interesting for two reasons. One he stays football ready for us next year. Two,he tears up the CFL making his own highlight reel and looks so good he is trade bait again?

Well, that is one way to get me out to a CFL game...:sidelol:

He will TEAR the CFL apart. If John Avery can be a sometimes dominant runner up here imagine what Ricky will do...scary actually.

Some NFL guys can't make the adjustment when they play Canadian ball because of the style of play. With Ricky's combo of size, strength and speed he will be rediculous up here...and he'll stay in football shape.

If the Argo's sign him I'll be at the B.C. Lions ticket office the next day to get tickets to see the Argos when they come to town....that would be great.

He is never going to be good trade bait at this point. He has no suspensions left to give. He goes positive one more time, and the man is done.

Would you give anything more than a 7th rounder for a guy who is one test away from being out of the NFL? I wouldn't.

And I'll go see him when he comes to Winnipeg. He might even play in the Grey Cup which is in Winnipeg this year. Remember how good he was in Buffalo during bad weather games

This is actually a great situation for him. He could play high and still easily win MVP.

I'm betting that Sticky Ricky retires, though. He's a good guy and I wish him the best.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgoooooooooooooossssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!

Let him play, stays in shape, sets a few CFL records and makes decent trade bait, if we don't trade him he'll be ready to play next year. He needs the reps.

In Saban We Trust!

I think that's Eric Estrata from Chips!

Very good point.

making his own highlight reel and looks so good he is trade bait again

Although I would love to see Ricky finish his career in Miami in 2007 and beyond I wouldn't put it past Saban to jump on the right opportunity if Ricky did excell in 2006 in the CFL and came back to the NFL in 2007.

Then again a guy of Ricky's tallent at vetern minimum is hard to give up.

I couldn't see Miami or any NFL team paying RIcky more than the Vet minimum until he proves a stable player for more than one season in a row.
