Because he is brittle, fumbles the ball when breathed on, looks like a deer in headlights out there, has overhyped overall physical skills, but mainly he just isnt very good. Outside of that he is a helluva prospect.
And oh yea, he wears "magic underwear". I was thinking he should get himself some magic gloves.
Exactly.. The NFL is not the weak conference Beck played in in college. His stats were clearly inflated
Do yourself a favor and look at Beck's games against out of conference teams.. He had a 1-1 TD/INT ratio for those games.. His stats aren't so gaudy then, eh? What happened to Beck's accuracy then? Because he wasn't so accurate. In fact, Beck looked like an average to below average college QB in most of those games.
Where was his accuracy in those games when he played outside of his weak conference and couldn't get by with so many easy dump offs to TE and RB's who caught the ball then ran wild on those weak conference teams (inflating Beck's stats as the run after the catch yards were quite evident when you watch those games).
I watched Beck's tapes after he was drafted, and I inspected henne's game tapes over the last week. Just look at the difference in competition.. Henne just looked to be the better more polished QB.
Henne is very good at dropping back very quickly out of the snap into the pocket (more of a pro set offense style that Beck hasn't run much , and he is already 27)
Henne has better mechanics (he doesn't have to work on his low release point like Beck does as one example)
Henne looks to be the more stronger QB than Beck, by a good margin. Henne is just clearly the stronger athlete-- and Henne is 4 years younger than beck so you know Henne will just get even stronger as he's only 22 years of age.
When you actually look at the gametapes and not the highlights, you see Beck get rattled easier.. Henne looks alot more confident under duress. And also more poised-- If you want to see good examples of that, watch BYU's out of conference games compared to Henne's Bowl games, AS A WHOLE.. Then you will get a MUCH clearer picture.
The accuracy the Beck people rave about is overblown. Against non conference opponents there was alot of times Beck threw the ball at receivers feet, way overthrown, or just way off to the side-- because he gets rattled easily under duress.
Henne had to be more accurate, as 76% of his passes were to receivers.. Alot of them were tough sideline NFL type passes. He didn;t have the advantage Beck had where over 50% of Beck's throws were to TE's and running backs.
The argument that Henne doesn't look off receivers is overblown as well. Over the last 2 years he has corrected that.. I threw up a few videos showing that.. Henne had a problem with that during his freshman and sophmore seasons when he was 20 years old. But he has rectified that greatly over his last 2 seasons. So that is another misconception with people.
I can go on further if you'd like.
