I know football is way beyond just the numbers, but one needs to look at stats to atleast get an idea of how this guy plays... and jeez, Henne's 2007 season was nothing to be excited about...The guy played with, I duno, 5 NFL ready players (Long, Kraus, Hart, Manningham, Arrington) so he had talent around him and yikes his stats were garbage...

HORRIBLE GAMES-
-D-1AA HOME VS - Apalachian State- barely throws for 50% completion (19/37) with a 1/1 TD:INT ratio..this game was supposed to be a warmup for the season

HOME VS OREGON - Barely throws for 50%, throws for 172 yards and has 1 TD and 1 Int in a loss

HOME VS Garbage Eastern Michigan- the guy throws 2 picks and only 1 TD and 195 yards passing

@Wisconsin- GOT BENCHED after throwing a 1st quarter INT! ("injury claim" was definitely a bail out) ... final stats 3-5 for 28 yards and 1 INT..OUCH

HOME VS Ohio State - 11-34 (32%) 68 yards passing..and he played the whole game (came out one series)- finished 0-4 in his 4 year career vs. Ohio State

So my big argument AGAINST Matt Ryan was his "19 Ints"..and i was told, you cant look at his numbers bc he had wide recievers that couldnt get open and a bad run game... well what is Hennes excuse?! He had a GREAT college running back, 2 great WRs, the games best LT to protect him and played in one of the best stadiums to play in and what did we find out... He could never beat OSU (which would be the Patriots for us in the NFL), played extremely poorly against both top competition AS WELL AS D1-AA schools (Apalachian State)...So my main point is...will someone please tell me what is so great about this guy... anything but the usual "he was a four year starter at a great competitve school like Michigan".. Cause thats not working, perhaps there backup QBs just werent ready to step in..
I was never happy with the idea of drafting Henne and now that we've drafted him, Ive done more research and man, I hate this pick...

How can you compare Beck to Henne... Beck took an average BYU school and made them a top 25 team...Henne took a prolific Michigan school and surprisingly with all their top-national recruits made them pretty average...
Sure they beat Florida in the bowl game but come on, even Joey Harrington had ONE good game for us... and even that game, Henne threw 2 picks

And this guy has that punk-Tom-Brady-like attitude in him that i cant stand...

BUT IN THE END I'M STILL A FIN FAN AND I HOPE THIS GUY ENDS UP BEING THE NEXT BEST THING...but in the meantime, if someone can make me feel more comfortable about this pick, I'd be greatly appreciated..thank you

I couldn't agree more, wasted pick on a guy who will never start.

ouch!

Been saying it for days. Henne was an average college QB that couldnt win the big ones. Yet he is the savior of the fins and will start next year. Yeah right!

Wouldnt be the first time. But the so called anti beck crowd could say the same thing about the drafting Beck.

Was the bowl game against Florida a "big one?"

Cuz he won it, had 373 yards and 3 TDs with a 64% completion rate.

The Heisman Trophy winner had 154 yards & 3 TDs with a 51% completion rate.

You obviously didnt watch any of Becks games if that is your arguement.

SHHH!! YOU'RE MAKING TOO MUCH SENSE..He's Just competition. We could have easily drafted Josh Johnson in the later rounds. Johnson is way better..

At least Beck had the stats to back it up.

Stats?? College Stats ?????? *with Jim Mora voice*

Colt Brennan had better stats than both of them. So I guess that means that you think Brennan is the superior QB to both Beck, Henne, and better than Ryan and anyone else in this draft (and better than anyone in last years draft for that matter since Brennan won the best stats award last year).

Don't forget better than any QB ever, right?

We're talking about NCAA statistics here.
