Chad Henne Era OVER in Miami. Franchise QB #1 Priority

I just can not read anything Armando writes, I wish we could ship him out of town with Henne and Sparano.

No kidding Mando...I thought we were set at Q

let's just be honest we are the dolphins. If we get the first pick we won't take luck. We will get the slowest fattest linemen on the board then go after a bargain basement qb in the second round.

Is this organization FINALLY starting to get it?
Rhetorical question?

Big difference between getting it and being able to draft it.

Aside from 2008, the current FO hasn't had the opportunity to draft a top talent QB and I'd lay the blame on Parcells for that one (2008).

The best of 2009-2011, Bradford, Stafford, Newton and Locker were never options.

The rest of the QB's (2009-2011) the Dolphins may have had a shot at drafting are degrees of slightly better or slightly worse than Henne and I don't think any of them are going to be long-term franchise QB's for the teams they are currently with.

On the bright side, week by week the Dolphins are getting closer to finally getting that QB.

Sparano is as good as gone. I have a feeling that Stephen Ross will pull an Al Davis and demand the new regime to draft a quarterback high. A guy like Andrew Luck alone will bring people to the stadium.

Agree with this. Up until the last half of last season, most were still looking at Henne as our future QB. The best qbs never made it to miami's selection. Word is that they would of taken Ponder if he fell but he didnt. Drafting Colin Kaepernick or Andy Dalton doesnt do it for me. We need to finally get one of the elite qb prospects coming out and it looks like this year we will have the chance.

I was never a Henne lover but its a shame hioe tenure had to end because our stupid RB forgot the play. That is classic 0-4 type stuff there.

Forgot they did away with trading up in the draft when you could really use a player.
Who would you have traded up for?

Freeman was within reach in 2009 but that was following the 2008 season with Pennington and the Dolphins winning the division. QB wasn't a top priority for the Dolphins that year. The Jets traded up that year for Sanchez, how did that work out for them? Henne was still viewed by most as a potential franchise QB.

The 2010 draft, Bradford was drafted first and there is no way the Rams were giving up that pick. The second QB taken was Tebow and the third was Clausen. You want either of those guys?

The 2011 draft, no chance of getting Newton. Maybe you have a shot at trading up for Locker, Gabbert or Ponder but how much are those guys really worth? How much are you willing to give away for any of those guys and was trading up even an option?

I'm not trying to defend the FO, just pointing out that the Dolphins have had crap options when it came to getting a great QB in the draft.

Cpt Obvious and his great writing. Now we all finally know that we need a QB. Thanks Armando, you are truly a genious.

Taking it even one step further, the qbs available outside of the draft were crap options too. Would you trade what Arizona did and give Kolb that ridiculous contract? Cincy wasnt trading Palmer and thank god we didnt trade for Orton and give him a big long term deal.

Like you I'm not defending this FO and I believe they have made their fair share of blunders, but even if you thought Henne wasnt the answer 2 drafts ago and looking at it somewhat objectively the options at qb were pretty crappy. I dont believe drafting for Clausen or Dalton solves our qb mess.

The good news is that there are at least two elite QB prospects in the upcoming draft. It's a good time to be terrible

Got that right. For me at least, there are reasons to be excited being a phins fan. We should have the opportunity to finally get that elite qb prospect, sparano and maybe Ireland will be gone, the potential coaching hirings are intriguing to say the least and we might be finally moving in the right direction. Hope could be on the horizon. Going into this season with Henne sparano and Ireland still here, many didn't see much hope

If you feel that their is a franchise quarterback available, and you do not have one yourself, it is worth whatever it takes to land said quarterback. Jeff Ireland indicated that Miami had a quarterback targeted that they felt was worth the 15th overall pick, but "it just didn't fall that way". If you have a quarterback worth the 15th pick, you have one worth trading up for to make sure you get.
And lets not act like it would have been a Mike Ditka like trade. Jacksonville gave up a second round pick to move up. People would be hard pressed to convince me that landing a potential franchise quarterback isn't worth giving up a running back.

The fact is we didnt pursue the quarterback position because they felt Henne was good enough. That was a mistake. That was such a big mistake it is worth firing them over. They had +3 years of film and interaction with him to determine if he was "the guy" or not. And in usual form for this regime, they couldn't see a weakness until it repeatedly blew up in their face.
This year's class was one of the best in years. This regime refused to trade up to grab a player they apparently felt was going to be good and they passed on arguably the best passer in the draft because they were afraid they couldnt control his personality enough to save their jobs. So instead we have an 0-4 record, a coach moping around the team facility, and a general manager desperately trying to distance himself from the sinking ship.
