Chad Henne ranked 10th in new Total QBR for Week 1

Yes the new system takes all facets on the game at the time into consideration(Score, down and distance, time remaining) and gives more points whether it's done in a close game or less points if it is done in garbage time.

The garbage time INT was cancelled out by the garbage time TD.
Told you he s more talented than Sanchez. Better arm, better accuracy and its really not close. After this year u won't be able to argue it. He finally has a competent coordinator, still doesn't have a run game like Sanchez but this year he won't have 16 less dropped interception than Sanchez. You seen what happened when they tried winning the game thru the air against a beat up crappy cowboys secondary. Thank goodness for u the rest of ur team makes up for Sanchez lack of talent.

Wonder where he'd be ranked without the garbage time INT. I guess he did have a dropped INT but guys like Sanchez get 2-3 of those a game.

That INT in the TQR doesn't hurt as much as it would in his regualr QB rating.

They factor impact of the game. So the fact that it was a meaningless play and had no positive or negative effect on the team would lead to it not really effecting his total QB rating.

This isn't a knock on Henne, but the plays that did effect him was his uncatchable ball to Hartline on 4th down and an earlier pour throw to Marshall in the endzone.

On the flip side I believe that he TD run in the 1st helped as well.

I kind of like the TQR. Cause it truly looks at timing and impact of plays. Before a TD was a TD and highly impacted the rating.

If you take the same stats

21-33 279 yards 1 TD and 0 int's. 2 qb's HAVE those stats. One QB'S team won 17-13 and his TD was the game winning TD and the other QB's team lost 45-7 and that TD came with 13 secs left in the game, the TOTAL QB RATING for the QB who won would be higher then the QB who lost even though their stats were exactly the same.

LOL so, turning it into a novel, that INT didn't effect his overall TQR too much

You lost by 14 pts and if not for a garbage time TD it would have been 21, Sanchez led his team into NE in the div rd, threw 3 TDs and led his team to the win. This position is not about #s, it's about making plays to win games and again Henne failed to do that even though he looked mmuch better overall.

Exactly! Something that your defense could not do! I do not claim that Sanchez is elite, he doesnt have to get all the stats, he just needs to make the right decisions to win us the game.

I agree with you Junc but lets not forget this was Henne’s first rodeo in the new offense. If Miami had trusted one of their backs to get that one yard it’s a completely different story here. Not saying we win, I’m pretty confident Brady drives back down the field and makes it a 14 point game again, but at least Henne gets a much needed TD that’s not in garbage time. I know shoulda, coulda, woulda I’m just saying lets see how he does going forward. Pretty hard to compare him to anyone who’s had continuity over the last 3, 4 or 11 seasons at this point especially when he doesn’t have an RB they trust to get a ½ yard. Not saying he will definitely get better, he may get worse as teams get film on Miami’s new offense, just saying I’m willing to give him a chance now which is a far cry from where I was on about week 5 of 2010.

It continues to boggle my mind how Jets fans think they have the second coming of Joe Montana in Mark Sanchez.... For the last 2 years they have had an elite defense, even without a pass rush, a very solid Offensive line, and above average RBs in Thomas Jones, LT, and Greene.... all the while Sanchez's stats and what he's been asked to do have been very minimal. Now I'm in no way touting Henne as the next Dan Marino... far from it.... but I think that if you straight up swapped Sanchez for Henne right now... The Jets are still as good as they were the last 2 years if not a bit better... and the Fins are still what they would be with Henne.

If Rob Ryan actually took a page from his brother and didn't play prevent defense before the half allowing Sanchez to march the team down the field.... His numbers could have easily been sub 55% completion and sub 300 yds passing..... The cowboys front 7 is elite... but when you are down a starting CB, lose another in the first quarter, and have Mike Jenkins hobbled worse than Dez Bryant all game, the back 4 might actually be worse than the Pats.

Until Rex and Shotty take the reigns off of the offense, Sanchez will be viewed as a game manager like Chad Pennington by most of the league as opposed to an elite QB talent like most of Jets nation believe he is.

And the defense and special teams bailed an anemic Jets offense out on Sunday night.... aside from one prevent defense TD at the half what did Sanchez lead the offense too???.... Move it down the field and then turn it over.... then throw a TD down 14 against what amounts to a second team secondary due to injuries. Revis gave Sanchez the ball essentially in FG range with a minute to go in the game... and congratulations... the chosen one gained exactly 3 yards and needed Nick Folk to bail him out.

The Jets were lucky on Sunday night.... plain and simple... Romo is a fool.. If that was Tom Brady with the ball at the 3 yard line up 7 points with 5 minutes to go.... you know he would have enough sense to preserve the FG attempt and go up 2 scores... A win is a win... but I was very unimpressed with the the Jets as a whole but I've been saying all preseason that they wouldn't be as good as they have been the last 2 years.

Hey, it's still a long season; if we're like the jest last yr, we'll face the Pats twice more. Hopefully, unlike them though, on the next go-around we won't lose 45-3 and Henne won't have about a 50% completion rate and throw zero TDS and 3 Ints. Relatively speaking, we've done a hell of a lot better than that already, so it's encouraging. (a FG whether it's in "garbage time" or not.. is pretty damn pathetic).

He was definitely better, he looked much more confident but the end result was the same and let's not forget that in prime time games at home the last 2 years vs. the Jets he played really well too. Let's give this some time to see if he really has turned a corner. You guys should be optimistic after what he showed but there's no need for proclamations after one week.

No one has ever acted like Mark is a great QB.

If, if, if. It's always about if's w/ you guys instead of the actual results.

Calling someone Chad Pennington is not an insult BUT Sanchez has been able to do things Chad was never able to do already. You guys are funny, we were playing from behind from the start thanks to the D, we had absolutely no running game and Mark kept us in the game through the air yet he gets no credit. I agree he doesn't deserve credit for the official comeback as that goes to the STs late and the D for getting 2 TOs but he kept us in that game.

It's also funny how you guys always whine about #s and he put's up good #s yet he still sucks and you always say he can't play if his running game isn't great. The run game stunk and he still put up #s, the story always changes w/ you guys. He was ok the other night, not as good as his #s but you guys like to evaluate on #s(many of you) so why the change?

we beat them the first time though w/ our QB throwing 3 TDs just as he did on the road in the divisonal round of the playoffs.

What'd Mark Sanchez get for his Total QBR score??? Oh yeah a 17.6, ranked 30th out of 33 QBs even below Tavaris Jackson and Donovan McNabb. He looked terrible in your guy's game, just get over it. Don't make Sanchez out to be something he's not.

Come on though...lets be real here. Henne had absolutely no shot Monday night. You cant hold it against him that he didnt "make plays to win". Sanchez would have led the offense to a score every drive? Thats what pretty much needed to happen.

This stat is a joke. You can't sit there and tell me Brady didn't have the best passing game of anyone week one.

Even in the old rating, Fitzpatrick was 1 and Brady was 4th. This one actually improves his standing among QB's. It does seem weird that Brady isn't 1, but I think 3 things hurt his score.

When down 7-0, it was Benjarvus who took in the TD.
When it was 14-7, Brady threw a pick that led to us tieing the game back up.
His 99 yard TD came when the game was already out of hand so it didn't improve his score as much as it should.

I would agree that Brady should be number 1, but I do like this QBR more than the old one. The old one ranks Michael Vick's and Kerry Collin's performances together.
