Sure he had a great game against New England, and sure there have been only two games this year, but I'm afraid the (unrealistic) perception right now may be that Chad Henne has significantly improved, whereas he really hasn't.

As you can see below, his QB rating is only marginally better than his 2010 and career numbers, whereas his completion percentage is down a good bit and really below the level you want in your starting QB. His YPA is up significantly, however.

I'd say it's too early to tell whether Chad Henne has improved significantly. Surely we shouldn't be making the conclusion already that we have a much-improved quarterback on our hands.

I dont think anyone said he god much better. He does look like a different QB out there and he did get better, but as you stated, he has only gotten marginally better. Last year he was just plain bad. In order for us to win he has to go from bad to very good and unfortunately he went from bad to average. I know alot of his issues arent his fault, but it is what it is. The most telling sign of this is he still cant get redzone points, as I am sure everyone will agree.
 
Listen, it isnt Henne right now, so get off that trip. Right now we have a head coaching problem who isnt getting this team/players prepared to play a full game with everything they got!

Some people on this board went quite overboard due to a good game by Henne and want to beleive our OC or qb coach suddenly unlocked a stud or he finally gets it. Way too early to say either way so far u are quite correct is about par for the henne course. I hope he does improve because I always have liked him.

And there are plenty of threads that center on that topic that you can contribute to.

This one is about something different.
 
You do realize the entire way of calculating QB rating is different this year don't you? You are comparing 2 totally different statistics.

Besides, do you watch the games? He's certainly improved, just how much is early to tell, but he's better then he was last year, so far at least.
 
Erm. I'm not a Henne apologist, but one interception was an "end-of-game try to score" INT and yesterday he had his arm smacked while in the process of throwing. In fairness, he deserved an INT by McCourty last week, so that one is a wash.

Also, Henne has *zero* protection right now. Even Jake Long has given up 1 1/2 sacks already this year. When Jake Long is giving up sacks like that, there are issues. I'm sorry, but there are just too many issues to not point at Henne right now. Let the line fix itself and the defense fix itself and then I'll focus my attention on Henne again.

All of the QB ratings above were calculated in the same manner.

hes improved. the question is can he shoulder the burden of both this offense and the inevitable vitriol of this fanbase and the media when things continue not to go right for this coaching staff? in the same way tony romo came out and made a statement (despite the fact the criticism of him has been unwarranted and again based on perception instead of FACT - much like sanchez)

how henne responds to what is inevitably coming will tell us what kind of quarterback he really is. either hes going to rise to the moment and take that "potential" and actually play well consistently or hes going to collapse under the weight of expectations and media scrutiny.

its a good test. and well have our answer before the year is over.

Its a team game, this statistical point you are trying to make after 2 games is pointless! It will take the whole year to truly see where he has progressed or not for that matter!

QB rating is the same. ESPN created a new rating system and has been harping over and over about it. The system is hardly foul proof, as its up to the evaluator to judge what is a "clutch" throw, a quarterbacks fault for sacks, how well they ran, etc, etc, etc. The "old" QB rating system is unbiased and clear, where the "new" one has potential to be abused.

Oh, and the new system's creator? Trent Dilfer.

I think this is a better assessment of his performance so far. Instead of comparing his current stats to an entire season.
 
He also played easier teams last year in the first two games vs this year (granted NE pass defense sucks). That's even more telling. Still hesitant to think he can be the solution, but he could end up being a nice stop-gap until Luck, Barkley, Jones, Foles or whomever is ready...
 
We will never beat any teams with one touchdown a week Henne. Thats all this guy does week after week. He throws one touch down a game. I think last year he had 15 touch downs. This year he is off to the same average. Add that with a dumb coach and you have a losing season again. Throw in a hands off owner that knows nothing about football and you are really in trouble!
