Was having a discussion the other day and Chad Henne came up often I kept mentioning that Henne is the kind of QB that if you surround him with playmakers he can be special.

Henne to me is not a play making QB ala Favre & I dont see him as the master mind like a Manning however I just always see Troy Aikman.

Aikman is a HOF QB however I always wonder had Aikman played for the falcons or the Bengals during the 90's how much better would those teams be?,better Im sure 3 time SB winners? most likely not.
Aikman to me was a very good QB that benefited greatly by having a HOF WR & RB on his team, I dont want to short change his success Im not saying if Jeff George was with those Cowboys teams he would be a HOF QB but those Cowboys may still have won.

Henne to me has some very similar talents as Aikman he is tough,a quite leader(not rah rah like Favre)smart and has a very strong arm.

Given some special talent at WR,Henne can be a very good QB.

Henne is a QB who won't really will improvise ala Brett Favre/Aaron Rodgers, but he will go through all his reads calmly and come back to progressions to find them open. He has an extremely strong arm ( Possibly top 5-7 strongest in the NFL right now) and fit it into any hole possible. He does tend to make stupid mistakes which I hope he can clean up.

His nonplussed, calm demeanor actually reminds me most of all of Joe Montana. Completely different players from a physical standpoint, but the same kind of personality.

Perfect comparison. I have always thought he was Aikman like. Sort of like a robot that makes the entire engine run. Henne needs talent around him, but once he gets it, he will allow that talent to make plays.

Aikman , Peyton and Brees = extremely accurate throwers

hopefully Henne gets there but he isn't even close yet

he makes great throws and he makes bad throws

I agree regrading accuracy, I didnt mention that on purpose :), thats I think the one area Aikman may have been the best "ever".

Don't see Aikman at all in Henne, maybe Bledsoe a tad.

This is a vastly more apt comparision. I saw both of those QBs from their rookie seasons to their last, and Henne reminds me more of Bledsoe at this stage.

Hard to make an apt comparison to Aikman at this stage ecause Aikman was pulling chunks of astroturf out of his facemask still.

im thinking a little kurt warnerish but we all have our own opinions. in the end he is extremely chad henneish, and will continue to be. that said i am very excited to see him after a full year of starting under his belt. GO FINS!

To me.... Henne reminds me of QB Jim Kelly (UM/Buffalo Bills)

I still say a young Ron Jaworski, the former Dolphin but primarily remembered as an Eagle.

Jaworski was also a 2nd round pick with a longer than ideal delivery, and somewhat clumsy, but good arm, accuracy and toughness. I think Henne's arm is stronger than Jaworski's. Henne's delivery is a bit more elongated. Jaworski took longer strides dropping back.

Farve was hungover 24-7 his first two years in the NFL.

When he was a falcon Jerry Glanville used him as a punchline to his jokes for a year before trading him to the Packers.

Henne's DEMEANOR, reminds me a lot of Aikman too. He's very cool and stoic. He never seems rattled. Bledsoe was rattled easily.

He obviously needs to work on his touch and short yard passing game...
