i watched the interview that was posted on that radio site earlier. when asked if he got any calls besides miami, he said st. louis called around the 30th pick to let him know they might trade up for him. Chad mentioned that he and other people were tryin to get in contact with the dolphins to let them know this in case they wanted to make the move knowing st. louis might. this shows that miami drafted another player that would love to play for parcells and the new regime

I didn't listen to the clip, but that doesn't really sound like he wanted to come to us. Maybe he wanted us to pick him higher because he saw how much money he was losing after every pick that wasn't him...

well if u listen to it you can tell because he thought that miami was pickin him up at 32 for sure. if st.louis was willing to trade up to take him 30, he could have been happy with that. but he wanted to let parcells know because he wanted to play in miami... thats what i got from it atleast.

Yeah, I'd be letting whoever needed a QB know that I was there too if I was losing money after each pick that passed by.

St. Louis wanted Merling, and knew the Dolphins would probably draft him. They were hoping Miami was desperate enough for Henne, that they'd take him at 32, leaving them Merling.

Both St. Louis (merling) and Henne (money) had a vested interest in getting Miami to dive in at 32 for Henne...I'm glad they didn't. Obviously, Henne wants to play for Miami, just like he'd have wanted to play for the Falcons or Rams or whoever else.

Of course he's going to say that. And Brian Brohm wanted to be a Packer. Gholston wanted to be a Jet. McFadden wanted to be a Raider. Mayo wanted to be a Patriot.

Wowzers! All those people were lucky they got pick by their favorite teams!?!

I think it's pretty obvious that Chad Henne and Miami wanted each other well before the draft. If anything screwed that up, it was when Miami told him on draft day that they would look at him in the second round, but probably at pick #57 rather than pick #32.

He can thank John Beck for that.

He didn't seem all that happy when they interviewed him on ESPN after he got drafted,he actually seemed pissed off,but that could also have been fatigue talking.

Actually, I was pretty unimpressed with his demeanor in that interview. He seemed visibly down. I hope he doesn't show that much discouragement when he's in the huddle after a bad play.

But I'm sure that research was already done by Tuna and co., so your explanation of fatigue may well be why he seemed "down".

Don't get me wrong, I love Chad Henne and I'm happy we drafted him but when we did pick looked upset. This may be because, and I hope it's because, we drafted him so late and he lost all that money. But my first reaction was that he didn't want to play for this team and one pick above him, Brohm got picked to fight for a starting position on a championship potential playoff team. I think his thought was, "That could have been me." When they passed him and we took him, it was almost the complete opposite of what could have been.

That and he had a better opportunity to start than in St. Louis where he would sit for a few years and the weather is nicer..
