For the record this is not a post that says bench Penny. Just explaining the upside of Chad Henne

We all know Penny is accurate but doesnt have a the great arm in the ranks of NFL QB's its probably a C- considering the elite have A+ arms that is pretty low. The reason our receivers cant get open is debatable but most think it it because we cannot go down field and Penny cannot get the ball into tight windows sometimes with a big arm you can get it to a guy who isnt completely open. Having a big arm like Henne can open up our field i think our recievers are alot better then most are giving them credit for. BUT when your guys have to be 3 or 4 steps ahead of the guy because of the lack of ZIP then not even the two studs we faced this weekend could get open. I do not think Penny will make it through the season by week 11 or 12 Henne will have the reigns and we will see what our offense will truly look like.

As for what our record may be.......i dont know but if you want a playmaker so bad we might have to choose between one of the two stud MLB's or Crabtree. As i see us getting that guy from Oakland to be our #1 CB

Ok, last not go there. Starting a rookie at QB is not the right thing to do, imo. I dont care who it is Matt Ryan,Joe Flacco,John Beck last year Alex Smith whoever. I think Vince Young stated as a rookie to and thats not doing so good. (Hope you get better Vince you have alot of talent)

I like Henne, and I do think he is going to finally be the answer at QB. Lets not rush him though. As much as I want to see him play, I don't think rushing him is the right thing to do. I don't mind bringing him in for a series or two at the end of lopsided games(like on Sunday) to get him some experience.

This team is not a very good one, so for this year, let Pennington take the beating and let Henne sit on the sideline and learn most of the year(with the exception of some spot duty here and there).

This will eventually be Henne's team, lets just get him some better talent before giving him the full time reigns. 2009 will be the beginning of the Henne era.

I think you can see just by watching Jay Cutler, that if you have a strong arm, and are accurate with the strong throws, then you can do a lot in this league. Yes he needs to learn to be accurate with the touch passes and he may make a few mental errors but I like what he brings to the table.

I'm going to go on record right now. Week ten at home against Seattle is probably when he starts. I think we will be 1-7 or 2-6 and he will be given the final eight games to learn by doing.

What about last season and throwing Beck to the wolves didn't you learn from.

Henne will be great. There is no need to let him get devoured when this team as it sits is going NOWHERE.

Let him ride the pine till this team is ready to shine.

FYI.. Tony Romo.. rode the pine for 4 season.. did him well.. unless of course you want another Matt Leinhart.

I am all for Henne too, but I agree with most of you...don't throw the guy to wolves...I think they are doing the right thing by putting him in when we are out of it

I think letting Henne sit for all or most of the year is the right thing to do. Yes, Penny has a weak arm and is going to see a lot of 8-9 men in the box. But he is like having a coach on the field. This will make our OLine and receivers better. They will be getting instant feedback on every play or series.

This is a re-build. It will take some time. But I feel we have some of the pieces in place and we'll see improvement throughout the year. That's what is really important. Consistant improvement.
