Chad Johnson is a funny dude, and baller in practice

Yeah, and I just loved when he walked into that meeting uninvited and just wasted a few minutes of everyone's time...that was great!...NOT.

That was completely unprofessional. His antics are disrupting the team...whether the folks here admit it or not.
lighten up francis.

come on crazy chad knew that wasn't a players meeting...he was just bustin chops...

anyways...i have to say i came away from that episode having enjoyed getting to know chad johnson a little bit...he was entertaining and funny...now if he keeps talking about his speed and sean smith can run stride for stride with him down the field unless smiths a totally knew man that doesn't bode well for chads ability to get vertical come regular season...i know that much

Yes that 30 seconds will completely destroy the team. SMH... The meeting hadn't even started yet. There's nothing to "admit" other than you are completely overreacting.

In the immortal words of Warren Oates in Stripes, "Lighten up, Francis".
actually he asked if he could come in.... coach said yes.... and I have enough faith in Philbin to think that if he didn't want chad in there even for a momment, he would've said "NO... coaches only..."

oh of course he knew it was coaches only, he was just... being chad.

Oh bah Gawd! Cut him now! He walked in on a coaches meeting and swore a few times during a media interview! Who cares if he made some sweet catches during practice and is showing promise, he's clearly not cut for this team with his bad attitude!

Personally, I've never liked his personality. But he has tremendous talent. He was one of the few players that stood out and caught my eye on Hard Knocks. He was making some tough catches...and he's his own biggest critic as he seemed hard on himself for dropping just one pass.

the question i have is did you guys see a whole lot of press coverage against johnson in that hard knocks stuff??? cause i sure didn't...looked like he was allowed to get into his routes and clean off the los...i doubt if he makes hay against off man teams are gonna continue to cover him that way come regular season

he did look like his old self on hardknocks. looking forward to seeing him play on friday

I remember watching some footage of him practicing with the Bengals a few years ago.

He was like a machine catching deep sideline passes with his hands.

The thing is, he is a pretty skinny guy. He reminds me of Lamar Thomas. I'd hate to see him get 'blowed up' as Emmit would say. ;)

Then after he was invited in by the coaches, he should have stayed there. Instead, he made up some excuse that he didn't have a chair and left. He was simply acting like a fool for the cameras. At least call it what is and don't make excuses...Francis...

I think if Vontae walked in that room, no one would be smiling. when you play and practice as hard as Chad, you've earned the right to be a little bit funny every once and a while. you don't think at 8pm or whatever that meeting was after those coaches have been at it since 5am in the morning they didn't enjoy a little light hearted humor before getting started?

idk, it's probably just me but i think Philbin made too much out of Chad saying a few bad words in his press conference. Its not like he was sitting up there ripping the team or complaining or anyting like that. Chad's cursing seemed pretty harmless to me. I just don't think it was worth the "he either needs to fall in line or not" comment Philbin made during Hard Knocks. You save those type of comments for the bigger issues that the players cause. You kinda lose the effect of the statement if you use it on something this insignificant. Plus is conversation with Chad just seemed like he wasn't really interested in what Chad had to say. It just came off as a little too strict- kinda in a grandfatherly sort of way. :idk: But hey, thats just my 2 cents

I like Philbin a lot, but that situation just kinda sat wrong with me.

I kinda got the same feeling about this but at the same time I can see where Philbin is coming from. He wants all of the guys to represent the organization in a positive and profesional way. While I certaintly don't have a problem with Chads language and I'm sure most of us here on Finheaven don't you gotta think that there are probably a bunch of little kids who are big Dolphins fans and watched or heard the interview and the last thing they expected to hear from a player is F this or F that etc.

I actually thought it was great. Coach is setting his boundries. He has to. He's letting everyone on the team know that there will be consiquences for their actions. But Philbin does it in a way that's not demeening to the player. Each player now knows that if they don't conform to the teams guidlines and expectations, they will be gone. With guys like Philbin on the staff, I can see how Green Bay was able to have the success that they've had.
I get where Philibin's coming from. Last night I was watching Hard Knocks with my 9 year old son. I had to mute Chad Johnson's press conference....just sayin'.
