Methodical. Technically sound. Tactician. Strategist. Patient. Smart. Not that athletic. Cerebral. Limited throwing range, but knows how to execute the right throws at the right time.

Probably a disservice to Griese, but it's a somewhat fair comparison. All Pen needs is to ramble on about stories no one else in the world cares about and the resemblance will be uncanny.

Right! Chad could go on long tangents and on he could wear glasses under his helmet.

Funny how we finally get a good QB and this team looks totally different. We are a Pennington away from having a good season. The rest of our QB's are paltry at best compared to him.

Not a bad comparison, but Griese was a very good athlete, even if he didn't have a rocket arm. He was a very good kicker in college (I believe he kicked for the fins in pre-season 1 year in the late 70's when Garo was injured) and a very good scrambler (at least when younger).

Pennington + Jets = Noodle Arm
Noodle Arm - Jets + Dolphins = Bob Griese
:D

Um, No. Three words. Super Bowl Champion! Three More, Hall of Famer. I think Chad is a great pickup and is going to be the reason this offense is the best offense we've put on the field in quite some time, but, to say he compares at all to Bob Griese is a little much.

Pennington was really good in college as well (he WAS selected 18th overall). His low arm strength is the result of injuries and not a lack of it in the first place.

The better comparison is Berni Kosar.
Some people have compared Penny to Jay Fielder. Not even close.
Jay had a reputation of being smart and accurate he was neither. We in spite of him not because of him.
Penny is accuarate and smart, there a reason why he is one of most accurate QB in the NFL.
The only thing they are similar is that they get injured every season.

Well, if he is like Griese, who the heck is our Earl Morrall?

Cause I like Penny, but the guy has trouble staying healthy.
