I wonder what chad penningtons trade value is after coming off his best season in the nfl.Would you take a number 2 for him and hand the reins over to henne a year early?I think this would be a wise move because we are not going too the superbowl this year anyway. The phins have way to many holes to fill and I would like henne to have a year under his belt so we can make a serious push in 2010.If we play pennington this year we get nothing in return next year because his contract is up.Gobble up are all the draft picks we can get so we can get some playmakers in the draft.

Although I love what Pennington has done for us I believe we need to get Henne more involved. He seems to be our future unless they really like what Pat White has to offer(I've heard a lot of talk)! I'm hoping Henne wins out position in Spring.

Chad Pennington is more valuable to us at this time in the rebuilding process than he would be in any player or draft pick we can get for him. There are other players we can trade for draft picks if that's what you want but lets try to have some continuity on offense before we think about trading someone who is in the final year of his contract.

I have always thought the way to go is buy low sell high. His value is a lot higher now than it is going to be next year.I really think he is going to be exposed by the much tougher defences we are going to face this year.

I don't think Chads value is in play. He is the key to this teams ability to turn this franchise into a winning team. He's about as untradable as a player could be.

We finally have some stability at quarterback and you want to trade Pennington away? Pennington was a gift from above last August, helped this team make the greatest turnaround in NFL history while playing at a Pro Bowl level(snubbed for the likes of Favre and Collins).

While I agree that Henne is the future and that Pennington is likely the starter for one more year, he is way to valuable to give away even for a second round pick. His knowledge for the game is a great tool for Henne to use as he continues to make the transition from the college game to the pros. It is like having a second QB coach on the team.

Quarterback is actually one position on this team that if nothing is done, it is still a strong unit. If you trade Pennington away, you open up a world of huge questions. That leaves you with just Henne and Beck. Henne, who displayed some great moments last preseason and in his limited time against the Cardinals, may not be 100% ready to take over the starting job. I personally think he would be able to handle it, but what if he isn't ready? John Beck seems to just need a change of scenery and probably doesn't have a long term future.

There is NO WAY Pennington is traded this offseason. He is the QB entering the 09' season and Henne will likely have to wait his turn. He will get his shot, but Pennington has earned the right to at least be the starter at the start of next season.

As for your "we are not going too the superbowl this year anyway" comment. What makes you think that? People last year at this time were saying "we are not going too the playoffs this year anyway". We went from 1-15 with the first overall draft pick to 11-5 and AFC East Champions. Yes we have holes, but if we can make the jump from a one win team to an eleven win team, there is no reason why we couldn't go to the Super Bowl. Not saying we will, but you can never say never.

Feel the pain.Answer me this question does this team have a better shot at bowl in 2009 or 2010?A logical person would say 2010.Next question,From everthing you read who is going to be the QB IN 2010?Henne right? What is the point for him to qb this year?We are not playing a bunch of scrubs like last year.Do you think we can beat teams like the steelers and the ravens with his weak arm?I saw him play the ravens twice and what did he have 6 picks. What do think the steelers and the titans are going to do us with that weak arm of his.I would try to get value why you still can.Maybe it can turn out to be starting linebacker or secondary help.

I do not believe his trade value is relevant, because he's right at that point in his career where he has a few good years of starting left at best, and, then, probably a good number as a backup.

That said, I can't see his value being more than a 3rd rounder. I, as a GM would not trade a high pick for a guy who doesn't have THAT much life left in the leauge. I would actually trade a higher pick for Beck than Chad, simply because if Beck DOES manage to hit, he's got good shelf life left. Chad isn't going to get any better and has limited shelf life.

we could probably get at most a second depending on who we are trading him to

i actually want to keep pennington even after henne comes in for two reasons. 1. pennington is the smartest qb in the league and him on the sideline can't be anything but good. 2. if henne gets hurt, isn't ready, or plays awful (please God no) we'll have a solid backup. i wouldn't be opposed to keeping him until he retires - then possibly hiring him as a coach in some capacity - like i was hoping would happen with zach.

To tell you the truth,I would not give more than a 3rd round pick either. If I could get more for beck I would trade beck.I do understand he is a great mentor for henne I just know we will never win a superbowl with pennington at quaterback unless we had defence like the 2001 ravens.People need to understand without him last year I know we would have been 6-10 at best.I just think his arm is to limited to take us too the next level. If some desperate team offered a 2nd rounder I would take it.
