The last time America gathered as one to watch a show on HBO this highly anticipated, Tony Soprano was in a diner, Steve Perry’s voice was in the background, and we were cut to darkness on one of the most dysfunctional families in TV history. Unlike “The Sopranos” series finale five years ago, Chad Johnson’s final moments as a Miami Dolphin didn’t leave any unanswered questions, mystery or room for debate the next morning.

[h=3][/h] Watch how coach Joe Philbin gently cuts Chad Johnson from the Dolphins on a reality television show.

At the 57-minute mark of Tuesday night’s episode of “Hard Knocks", it was made loud and clear — Chad Johnson was not going to be a member of the Miami Dolphins in 2012.
Tuesday’s HBO viewing experience provided us with a rare behind-the-scenes look of what happens when the rubber hits the road — hell, when the crap hits the fan — for a struggling, aging veteran in a young man’s game. Long before Johnson’s arrest rocked the TMZ world on Saturday night, it appears as though his fate with the Dolphins was decided. The entire hour-long episode was built with clips of Johnson mishaps and shortcomings on the field, rather than off.

Was disappointed they filmed him getting cut. Otherwise I think the show is great, other than a little Les Brown awkwardness.

Did you some how think that wasn't going to be on the show?? That is what the show is about, why would you think it wouldn't be on the show?? The show is as much or more, about the difficulty of making an NFL roster, as it is about the underdog fighting through and making the team. There was absolutely ZERO chance IMO that they were going to leave THAT out.

Mastering a playbook that requires more than merely making a cut to the outside at the sewer is apparently a consistent challenge for the former player formerly known as Ocho.

The focus on Chad's mishaps was designed to make Philbin look good or right about his decision.

He didn't get a chance to have a real conversation with Philbin & tell him his side of the story, which he obviously wasn't gonna do in front of the cameras. When he walked in he looked into the camera for 5 seconds and I got the feeling he was thinking "is this really how were gonna do this?", and then was forced to sit through a really awkward pre-prepared speech to get cut. If this was a rookie getting cut because he's not gonna make the 53 for football reasons, than I understand that; this was a bit different though. I think all players in that situation would have liked to be able to plead their side of the story and Chad wasn't afforded that. Just my opinion.

This is a player who his whole career has craved the camera and attention so because the news is bitter all of a sudden he is uncomfortable. Too bad for Chad.

Football reasons had as much to do with it as the charges. The charges were simply the final straw.

Chad wanted to be a reality star. Well, he got it.

Its reality TV. Did you really think a member of the team, who happens to be camera hound, and makes a spectacle of himself every chance he gets, goes out and gets arrested for head butting his wife of 5 weeks, who also happens to be also be known for reality tv., wasn't going to on the show Hard Knocks your delusional. This clown got exactly what he deserved. The Jerk even ended the first show walking out the door saying he was going to be arrested. At least he was man of his word. To me, he was never a Dolphin, he contributed 0 to the franchise except to put a franchise that has already been kicked around in the media, in a bad situation.

I take it you don't agree with Chad being released. You're OK with being associated with someone who beats on women? Beyond that, you're OK with someone who didn't know the offense and was running whatever routes he wanted to try to get open.

For the second year in a row Chad tried to bring his clown act to a team that wasn't prepared for his entertainment and for the second year in a row he was dumped.

People seem to lose sight of the fact that this guy was barely worthy of a roster spot on even a WR starved team like the phins.

Lets face it. His skills at this point barely if at all warrant him a #4 or #5 spot on a team with a normal set of NFL receivers.

I love how everyone just penciled him in as one of our starters. If he were to be a starting WR, he wouldve easily been the worst starting WR in the league. Look up and down the rosters and tell me who's #2 receiver isnt better than Chad Johnson. The guy was the 5th option last year on a Pats team who wasnt overly stocked with talent at the position and loved to throw the ball.

The fact he cant play special teams makes it tough to keep him on an NFL roster at this point especially when you consider he refuses to play in the slot and wants no part of going over the middle. The guy is washed up. The only reason he had a shot here was because we have no talent at WR.

He USED to be a good WR. SEVERAL YEARS AGO. He hasnt done anything spectacular in several seasons. He was outperformed in Cinci a couple years ago by a past his prime T.O.

Chad Johnson had like 2 or 3 really good season quite a long time ago in NFL years. He just isnt very good at all anymore.

Fact is he could have the personality and character of Derek Jeter right now and his skills wouldnt earn him a roster spot on most NFL teams.
