Loosing football is no fun. I sit down in front of my tv every sunday with high expectations, and week after week I watch the Dolphins and end up pissed off. But unlike most ppl on this site I take a deep breathe, settel down and keep my eye on the prize....

People around here are what I call ball watchers. For example, these type of people see Ricky Williams go offtackle left, Jake misses a block, Ricky gets tackled for a 2 yard loss. And everyone is pissed off. Now, I watch the same play and see Anthony Fasano with a great crack down block on the linebacker and think, man next time if Jake makes that block Ricky is gunna take that one to the house.

Ladies and Gentleman, the Nick Saban and Cam Cameron era failed because neither regime was willing to rebuild. Pushy fans want to see a winner now! This type of attitude caused mediocracy for years, and then finally (and inevitably) the implosion we saw last seaon.

Now we have this new regime in place and we are finally doing this the right way, unlike the former regimes this one is building from the ground up, and you have to give this a chance to succeed. If you expect a good win loss record you are gunna be disapointed. I challenge my fellow fin fans to stop being ball watchers, you have every right to be upset with bad play and mistakes, but you have to keep your eye on the ultimate goal of the new regime: returning the Dolphins to their former glory.

damn right WIS damn right

I mean if I could honestly get past all the mediocre years when we were playoff bound annually and having to bare witness to OUR VERSION OF THE APOCOLYPSE WHICH WAS DANNY BOY'S SWAN SONG (that 62-7 thrashing at the hands of JAX), THEN I DAMN SURE CAN GET THROUGH THE REBUILDING PHASE.

BECAUSE LIKE YOU I KNOW THAT IN THE END WE'LL BE BACK AND WE'LL BE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH FOR YEARS AND YEARS TO COME. NOT FOR THIS WIN NOW TYPE OF ATTITUDE ALOT OF FINFANS HAVE.

Thanx for the support its nice to see that there are rational fans out there.

Just seeing the threads this pre-season about how we were gunna be 9-7 and we have a chance to go to the superbowl, I knew it was a set up for alot of dissapointed Fin Fans. Then when the threads titled "trade for Boldin", "Fire Sparano", "Official: cut (Insert Player Name) now thread, Bench noodle arm" these didnt suprise me, but they are enough to make a rational football fan laugh.

Both the veteran's that didnt get cut from the prior regime, and the veterans brought in by the new regime, where not brought in to win superbowls. These are guys I like to call "stop-gap-veterans", brought in to fill spots as the young talent is developed around them.

Other than Marino, mediocrity has plaged this franchise since 1973. I dont know about the rest of you, but I'm tired of seeing these quick moves fail again, and again, and again. So Im gunna sweat it out and let this regime rebuild.

Go Dolphins...

I would be willing to be patient if anyone could garuntee me that this regime that we have to be patient for, just like all the others since Schula, will succeed. Honestly, I'm sick and tired of expecting a total effort and, a win, then being talked down to and patted on the head like a petulant child and, being told "Now now..We're rebuilding. Let the grown folks talk."

Just to pose a question....If, in three years we are not a contender, will all the people that are talking down to people that would like to at least see a team that will attempt to hit people in the mouth this season be at all ashamed of themselves? Or will they be telling us to "Be patient" for the next group?

It's losing.

First off, just like every thing in life, there is no garuntee in football. So will this regime turn things around, I think so, due to the fact we are finally starting from scratch (rebuilding). Expecting a total effort is also something that is expected from every fan (and IMO last sunday you saw a total effort from a team that lacks talent and is rebuilding). That is our job. And in terms of "now, now we're rebuilding"?? Yes, now now we are rebuilding. And an FYI, its only been 2 games and people expect results?? That is foolish.

If your asking whether I expect a contending team in the next three years?? The answer is absolutly. Will I be pissed off if it doesnt work out yes because I have a lot of faith in Parcells and Co. Will I support the regime that is left in charge of cleaning up if Parcells fails?? Yes. Will I call for them to be fired after a 0-2 start. No (like I said foolish).

This cycle can go on and on the rest of my life. Dont get me wrong I am as sick of loosing as the rest of you. But plain and simple I love the Dolphins, and because of that love I will support every single person (coach or player) who wears the aqua and orange.

i understand it takes time but still i can expect to see improvement cant i. Which i have dont get me wrong young guys are developing. Thats why i say start henne now let him take his lumps and build chemistry with his wrs. 6 new qbs in 6 years isnt a good track record we are becoming the bears. If we stick with penny then there a good chance well be looking at 7 qbs in 7 years next season. We have no continuity at the most important skill postiion on the field.

I'm quite aware that there are no garuntees...That's my point. You don't know, you simply have faith, which is fine. I simply believe that one person's faith in an outcome vs another's faith (or lack thereof) does not entitle the party of the first part to pontificte to others and degrade thier ability to look fully at a situation...ie; Your ball watcher characterization. I, too agree that to call for a fireing of any HC after two games is silly. (Dan Henning? I don't think that's a stretch.)

I will support whatever organization is brought in here, but, I'm getting sick of being called somthing less than a fan because I refuse to take every spoonfull of Koolaide a FO/Staff feeds me anymore.

Goon Im sure your a great Dolphin fan. The way I choose to be a fan doesnt make me anymore of a fan than you. Like I said, I hate loosing just as much as you. But if after two game you want to fire coaches (Sparano Henning or any coach), cut players and make rash decisions that may help us win a game or two, its obvious we had different expectations of the '08 Dolphins.

In terms of the ball watching comment (again if you are a ball watcher doesnt mean your less a fin fan than me), but because of my low expectations (in terms of W/L record) I told myself when I watch the fins Im gunna watch the young players and get my Dolphin satisfacton from watching them improve week by week. And if the Dolphins win, great, if not I choose not to get worked up about it. Maybe (in your opinion) that makes me a "bad fan", maybe not.

Thats why I labled this thread a challenge to Fin Fans. Give this thing time to work, and stay positive, if you dont want to thats your choice.

Hang in there guys. You have a young team and talent. Parcels will buid you a great team. I look forwrd to the very near future when both Bills and the Dolphins are the beast of the east, and battling it out for the Division. It might not be this year but it may very well be next year.
