Seems that many of you out here do not have any memory or you are just now beginning to follow this team… CC has had a bad season and I will not put that blame squarely on JOEY, but I feel it is a big part of it!

Below are his stats for his career. Granted they are not over the top or worthy of mention with the greats, but you also have to take into account his surroundings and QBs since joining the team…

2001 - Rookie season - 883 yards, 18.1 avg., 7 TDs... 881 yards on KR with a 22.5 return avg. That is 1,764 total yards!

2002 - 734 yards, 14.1 avg. 3 TDs... However, this is the year he got hurt with a big hit that resulted in a concussion and was out a few weeks. He still led the team in receptions with 52. This is the year BTW, RW had 1853 yards rushing and has 16 TDs... RW also was 2nd on the team in receiving with 47 for 363 yards and a TD.

2003 - 963 yards, 15.0 avg., tied for 3rd in the NFL with 11 TDs. Led the team in receptions with 64, RW was 2nd with 50 for 351 yards and a TD. (Rushed for 1353 yards)

2004 - Well we ALL know what happened that year! However, even with this debacle of a season, CC had 69 receptions for 898 yards with a 13.1 avg. and 7 TDs. He was 2nd in receptions behind McMichael, who had 73 for 791 and 4 TDs.

2005 - 1118 yards, 13.6 avg., tied for 3rd in the NFL with 11 TDs. Led the team in receptions with 82, McMichael was 2nd with 60 for 582.

2006 - This year CC is 3rd in receptions(56), 3rd in yardage and 2nd in scoring of the WRs. WES leads the team in receptions with 64 and is 2nd in yardage. Booker is 1st in scoring and 1st in yardage and 4th in receptions (51)…

6 years with the following QBs that had an avg. QB rating of

2001 - Fiedler - 80.3,
2002 - Fiedler - 85.2, Lucas - 69.9
2003 - Fielder - 72.4, Griese - 69.2
2004 - Fiedler - 67.1, Feeley - 61.7
2005 - Ferrotte - 71.9, Rosenfels - 81.5
2006 – Culpepper – 77.0, Harrington - 68.2, Lemon - 90.9 and still going... His rating for the last game was 107.3.

Is he a number 1 receiver? I can’t tell you that because he has yet to have a QB that has a passer rating above 85.5! And that was the year he was hurt and we had a ground game that was GREAT!

I'd say this was a bad year for a WR that has been a constant producer of points over the years considering the likes of FIEDLER, LUCAS, GRIESE, FEELEY, FERROTTE, ROSENFELS, and HARRINGTON. He has led this team in receptions and yardage 90% of the time over the past 6 years. Not to give him a chance with a REAL QB would only blow up in our face!

I would bet just about anything that if he leaves and ends up with a top 10 QB, he will be hell on wheels!!! Let’s give him another year!

You post was well thought out and written. THank you. THis post would have been perfect for the many arguements wks ago. I agree with you on all accounts.

Good post!! I agree with it also, Chambers does deserve another shot. This was the worst Dolphin offense we have seen in years it would have been tough for anyone to flourish in it. With that being said, Chambers should take notice of the approaches used by Javon Walker and Tory Holt (hands training) to alleviate those drops.

I guess the entire receiving and TE corps and runningbacks should take the training as well then because they all have been dropping balls...

Funny this though is that with the talent that we have on this team, it is hard to figure out why EVERYONE seems to be dropping balls!!! Only 1 common denominator...

Its not only that. Chambers is a great second reciever, but I do not feel he can be a consistent elite guy. He doesnt have that breakaway speed, nor does he seem to be able to consistently gain seperation from DBs on his own (ie: without needing plays to set picks and such).

THe number one reciever job just doesnt seem to suit him well, where he is asked to stretch the field more, and often gets stuck with the opponents best DB. He seems to be best when he isnt the target of the other team, and can work the middle of field and do more outs instead of flys.

Our biggest problem at WR is our lack of an elite speed WR, someone like Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, Santana Moss etc who can really stretch the field and command safties to cover them, opening up room for Chambers to work.

The problem is, that at this point im not sure Chambers would welcome being relegated into more of a #2 role, but could be wrong. Anyway, unless we draft someone like Ted Ginn, im not sure how we can fix this for the bext season.

how many another shots has Chambers been given. The point is the guy has never lived up to his potential, he drops to many balls and has not made the big play when we have needed it. If you can get a 2nd or 3rd round pick you take it. The guy is just a plain underachiever who makes an jaw dropping catch 2 times a year. I really want this guy out of miami because I am sick and tired for the excuses he makes and the excuses that people make for his lack of play.

throw him to burn unlesss he takes a pay cut and proves himself again..

Well if the QB is always throwing the short routes and never taking the time to let the deep routes form, then I agree... However, I have seen many times this year where CC was open, Booker was open or WES was open and the QB threw the short route...

I won't disagree with this because those routes open up quicker than the deeper ones... This is another mis-conception of the QB play as well... However, the QB play in the middle of the field this year has sucked!!!

While this is a point of a problem, all those receivers have QBs that are far better than we have now! Look at Randy MOSS! HAve you even heard of him, other than the whining, of making big plays? Why is that? One would say he is nothing without a good QB!

I say let's give CC the opportunity to play with a decent QB before we dump him and regret doing so...

Did you read the thread?

That the highest QB rating (Fiedler 85.2) was when Chambers was hurt is indicative that when QBs throw to receivers other than Chambers their QB rating goes way up. When they throw to Chambers their QB rating goes way down.

This has been the case for Daunte, Joey and Cleo this year. The reason we go through so many QBs is bc Chambers is a "QB KILLER." IMO some fans only remember the ESPN highlight catches and think he is great receiver. However, when watching Chris "QB Killer" Chambers week in and week out it becomes painfully obvious his production is in no way close to the hype.

Their is a saying, "If you throw enough crap (PG 13) against the wall some of it is going to stick." This has been the Dolphins strategy with Chambers. For example, Chambers caught 82 passes last year, but 84 times resulted in an incomplete pass. For his career, QBs have targeted Chambers 771 times and only completed 371 of those passes (400 incomplete passes) for a "pathetic" 48% completion percentage. In fact, only in 2002 did QBs complete more than 50% of their passes when throwing to Chris "QB Killer" Chambers and that was a paltry 52%.

Don't forget despite having below average QB's his whole career . . . he has had a different OC like 5 of the 6 years. We really have messed with this kid . . . but the talent is there and I think the potential to be a top WR is still there. Ideally, I think we need to keep Mike Mularky (if even its just to have some familiarity) and pray DC is 100% . . . get this Oline playing good, Ronnie playing well . . . I think Chris will explode with all those factors.

Yea . . . umm so Chambers is a QB killer . . . so the fact that these below average QB's with typically below average arm strength, can't throw a deep ball for anything (man this year I really have appreciated Fiedler more than any other year because atleast he threw a decent deep ball every once in a while . . . Joey couldn't hit a 10 foot target 25 yards down field) has nothing to do with it right?

Chambers is a big time receiver, plain and simple . . . but u gotta have a QB who can get him the ball. He has been a decoy all year . . . hell just go back to the Buffalo game . . . he took that game over and won it for us . . . u can't ignore that kind of play from a WR, but u gotta be able to put him in good spots, and get a guy who can make the plays throwing the ball to him.

Chris needs to stop letting balls go right through his hands, and stop catching with his body, and start earning his pay check.

Agreed!!! I bet CC rocks next year with a bit of continuity at QB and OC...

All this talk about what a great deep receiver Chambers is, but the numbers don't support that he catches well on short, intermediate or deep passes. Did you happen to see the two deep passes to Chambers on Christmas? One was a beautiful pass by Harrington that went between his chest and his hands...I don't think he even touched the ball on that play. :shakeno: The second pass Chambers was well defensed (as usual) and I believe the ball bounced off his helmet on that one. He definitely didn't try to go up and catch the ball with his hands (as usual). Had Chambers done his job more than likely we wouldn't have seen Lemon get into the game. So yes, Chambers is a "QB Killer."
