I think our D under Nolan, will be Top 5 this year, barring injury to Cam Wake & Vontae Davis.

I am really concerned with the Offense and IMO it all starts with the O'line. IMO this is Sparano's biggest failure. Henne was brought in, with the perception of being a tough, intelligent, game manager, behind a dominating O'line & run game, but since he has taken over neither have occured.

This year though, we may have the worst O'line and consequently run game since he took over.

- Jake Long is the biggest concern. If Long does not recover or play sub-par due to injury, Sparano should be ripped apart for not resting him at end of season.

- I have never heard, since watching the NFL, a team convert one of the better RT's in football to Gaurd, only to replace him with one of the worst.

- Joe Berger. I know he is not the best starting Centre in football, but he is also not the worst. He started 14 games last year and his familiarity and experience would bode well at Center, especially in a shortened off-season. It would also stop the constant shuffling. I am one who believes that the best O'lines have cohesiveness, experience & familiarity. It would also allow, what most project Pouncey to start at his best position. I would much prefer a line of LONG-INCOGNITO-BERGER-POUNCEY-CAREY as opposed to LONG-INCOGNITO-POUNCEY-CAREY-COLUMBO.

- When have you heard of a successful rookie RB behind a poor O'line?

- When have you heard of a game-managing QB, winning football games with a poor line and run game?

I think the conversion of Carey to RG and Columbo at RT along with the constant shuffling and lack of cohesiveness, will hinder our running game & thereafter our passing game. Consequently killing both Sparano & Henne!

Joe Berger is garbage at center and can't handle the big NT's/DT's in our division.

That's just a horrible idea. And that's why they drafted a center in the 1st round as it was a huge need.

they should have signed Lenoard Davis instead of Columbo. Kept Carey at RT and plugged Davis in at RG

Barry Sanders comes to mind, but I know Daniel Thomas is no Barry Sanders.

Still, the article about Chad Henne having his best stats with 4 WR sets makes me think that we might head that way..

One thing that stands out about Chad Henne is how much better he performs when the Dolphins spread the field. This was evident on film and paper last season (Henne’s passer rating when two wide receivers were on the field was 67; with three receivers it was 79; with four or more receivers it was 83). Henne does not see the field particularly well on slow-developing plays (play-action, max-protect, seven-stop drops, etc.). In these situations, his confidence rattles, leading to the erratic accuracy and turnovers (which, for Henne, tend to pour when they rain).

Imagine this: after dumping conservative offensive coordinator Dan Henning, we now open up the field with more 4 WR sets, where Chad Henne has had his best stats. With 2 great possession receivers (Marshall, Bess) and 2 blazing fast receivers with 4.3 speed (Gates, Bush) all on the field at the same time, maybe this gives defenses fits, and is what turns our offense around.

And like how the spread 4 WR offense helped open the field for Barry Sanders behind a weak Detroit oline, maybe this will help Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas get some running room behind a weak Dolphins oline.

IMO I think Sparano moved in Carey so he could help Pouncey destroy NTs. POuncey still a rookie and needs help controlling interior line. However, I do think Colombo will not be a great RT for us and that will be our weakness

If Long does not recover, can you imagine the nightmares Henne has thinking that Murtha & Columbo are blocking for him, while Pouncey is snapping the ball!

A championship D produces turnovers. Until this D brings in some new blood in the secondary that actually knows how to pick off a pass, this D will never be able to go from good to great.

i would prefer long, pouncey, incognito, carey, and if they could sign the guy the saints just released, they keep getting garbage from the cowboys, its like we are the cowboys farm system, the players get sent down to us.

Can you imagine the nightmares Henne will have even if Long does recover, with Columbo blocking for him?

Your D isn't championship caliber but it is playoff caliber. Your O can be playoff caliber if the QB can get it.
