Chan Gaileys Press Conference

I think it is what it is. He sounded good to me, heck, no preseason, new players across the board, 1 game in...let's see what developes

While I get that they want to use different guys, it's always hard for a RB to get going when you keep rotating them in and out. Also, the Oline having to block for 4 different types of RB might not be the best idea. At this point I think Breida would be the guy that can give us some big plays and we really need those cause it's hard to go 5 yards at a time. You need 12 to 14 plays that way and something always seems to go worng that kills the drive when you have to run that many plays.

There was absolutely nothing exciting about the offense.

The worst part is there was nothing exciting about the Pat's D either that shut us down.

I am not busting on the OC at all. He did not throw 3 picks, including 2 in scoring positions. The one was on Williams falling down, but still not on the OC. It was the first game of the season with no preseason and not much of a minicamp as well, against a team with great corners.

A lot of late shifts by the Pats D line...which was brilliant by Belichick. 4 new starters, 2 rookies...a very simple way to confuse the O-line without having to do much.

One of those great corners (Gilmore) was getting his lunch money taken again by Parker...unfortunately Parker didn't stay in the game and we had no plan b.

No preseason and the only scrimmage he missed because of his family tragedy so he never saw game speed until this weekend.

I’ve seen it discussed elsewhere and it lends to the fact that, Ryan Fitzpatrick likes to throw 50-50 balls to big receivers; that is his game that is how he pushes the ball down the field. He’s not so much a throw to the open guy and get rac, he’s much more of a throw to big physical receivers and have them make a play. So even the one where Preston fell down I think Gesicki was wide open and had a big gain potential because no one was around him.

So the offense really isn’t built for Fitzpatrick style his style is much more built for like Bruce Arians who likes to throw the ball down the field not a guy who runs play action run pass option and just has six guys with 50 receptions rather than two guys with 110 like Gailey

I thought the idea was to make the offense less complex. If you have different packages for 4 different runningbacks maybe thats a bit to much. Are you telling me Matt Breida couldn’t have run the same please myles Gaskinn Ran or Jordan Howard I disagree any of these guys should be able to play any play that’s in the playbook obviously we would rather have Howard in goal line and short distance runs. Breida ran hard so I don’t see why he couldn’t be used at the goal line either.

I couldn't believe it when he was rumoured as a candidate to be our OC. Part of me still suspects I dreamed it

I agree with this. Coaches call plays, players execute. Fans usually like the players more so they blame the coaches. Does anyone remember when Dan Henning was holding back Chad Henne? That’s all you need to know about Finheaven coordinator criticism.

To be fair Dan Henning wasn’t doing Chad Henne any favors. I remember a 3rd and 9 against the Steelers. It was play action, Brandon Marshall was the only receiver running a route against a Steelers dime look. And this was a regular thing for Henning.

one of my worst memories of henning was we were playing the bills and on the first drive ricky was running all over them. we pretty much handed off to him on every play and he got us down around to the buffalo 5 yard line. He couldnt be stopped and was getting like 6-7 yards a carry. So what does henning call? a ricky williams half back pass and ricky throws an int into the endzone

I want to believe that Gailey is here to mentor another coach to be OC next year, or some other OC was who Flores wanted and for whatever reason it didn't work out and Flores was stuck with nobody...

'till Fitzpatrick whispered "Gailey" in his ear.

Not a Gailey fan, and as many have already stated his approach is outdated. However, with the lack of preseason games and a untested and unproven line we had to keep it vanilla on offense. Even with that conservative approach our QB, receivers and poor run defense is why we lost.
