Chances of J.Long?

With every mock and opinion it seems we are able to narrow our pick (if we stay at 1 which is likely) down to 3 players. Matt Ryan, Chris Long and Jake Long. What do you think are the chances of that pick being Jake? I personally would love to take Jake Long if we can't trade out. Would solidify our young o-line very nicely.

Although most of time when we were pressered last year it seemed to be from through a guard =/

I am with you, solidify the O-line and everything else will fall into place. As much as I love our backs, there are no guarantees there (as well with Beck) but build the line and the rest will follow.

Either Long would be good IMO, but I think it is pretty much 45/45/10 with both Longs, and Ryan sneaking in there.

I say better than 50% chance it is Jake Long. It's our biggest need, and he is a legit top three prospect in this draft.

Exactly. If Parcells, Ireland and Sporano feel he is an elite LEFT tackle prospect, we should grab him, and not fool around with a trade down.

I agree with that statement. I just don't think they will see an elite left tackle prospect.

My god.. this is the deepest OT class as far as I remember... there are at least 5 OT that are as good or very close to long talent wise...

One one them will fall in to the 32nd pick, why invest a freaking #1 pick on a tackle that we can have in the 32 pick

Also remember other Tackles are climbing up draft boards like Carl nicks of nebraska and anthony collins of Kansas and tony hills of texas.

The pick should be
1) Matt rayan - If and only if the FO feels he is a can't miss fanchise QB
2) Chris Long - If he can play OLB/DE
3) Vernon Gholston

Or trade down but for the love of god not jake long

There is a big drop off in talent level after Jake Long. Most "experts" consider Jake Long to be a better overall LT than Joe Thomas who I believe was the 2nd overall pick last year. We want Jake.

Putting "experts" in quotation marks is rather accurate.

I think J. Long would be good, just think that this year, unlike usual, there is plenty of OT talent to be had in the 2nd round.
But, that said, I really don't see better options with the first pick.
It figures that the one time the fins have the first overall, there really isn't that standout guy that everybody covets.

J. Thomas was 3rd overall last year, not 2nd, right?)

I mean i would be happy with any of the top prospects, aside from D.Mac (huge Ronnie supporter). How do you guys think Jake matches up with the top tackle prospects from recent years, ala Thomas and Furgeson

Jake is better than all the Tackles we currently have.Notice how all our FA signings were mostly defense....Jake Long is going to be the guy,this guy now stands as the most logical pick....
