I think that most will agree that our major points of concern entering the draft are WR, QB, OLine, and Secondary. Now lets assume for a moment that Miami is able to sign Donte Stallworth. That makes WR less of a position of importance and means we more than likely wont spend the first round pick on a WR. With 2 second round picks already we have a great chance of landing Drew Stanton and there's always the possibility of Brady Quinn not being there at 9. Joe Thomas will not be there at 9 and there will be good OT prospects in round 2.

LaRon Landry is a name I've heard a lot. And while I'm not totally in love with the prospect of drafting a Safety #1 two years in a row he is a great player from a great program. The only thing is, #9 might be a bit of a stretch for him. He could realisticly still be there at 16-18. That could mean us trading down in the first round, still getting the player we want and picking up 1 or 2 more draft picks.

So I was just wondering what people thought of our chances of making a move like this.

Landry is a special player. There is no way he drops to 16. The Falcons will probably jump on him. I think we can trade down if a team has targeted Landry, Brown or Okoye, because I think all 3 will be available at 9.
I also don't think Stanton will get past the 1st rd.

If the Dolphins do in fact have Landry targeted with that first round pick and he is there at 9 I think we could safely trade down to 13th and still get him. But you are right, the Falcons need safety help. Just not sure how willing Petrino will be to spend his first draft pick on a Safety when the Falcons need serious defensive line help especially with the departure of Kerney

If we don't get Brady, Sporting News said that Kevin Kolb made the least amount of mistakes by the top QB's in this yr's draft. He was rated as a 1st rounder or 2nd. He should be our 2nd choice. Stanton 3rd or 4th choice, with Beck behind them.

It's not only a matter of us trading down but which team wants to trade up. For example, if someone wanted Okoye and feel Atlanta would draft him at #10, then they may be more inclined to trade up with us to acquire him.

Laron Landry is definitely a Top 10 pick, especially after what he did at the combine. He bulked up to 213 and still ran a 4.35 40.

I've heard a lot of mixed things when it comes to Kolb. I know he had a great college career and I know some GMs think he should be taken before JeMarcus Russel but then I've also heard a lot that he doesn't have what it takes to make a smooth transition from college to pro

I honestly don't think it's realistic. Most people have Landry targeted as a top 10 player. I think Mike Mayock even has him as a top 5 player. Even if he got past us some team would jump on him relatively quickly or trade up to do so.
