The other thing to consider here is, do you cut your defensive quarterback (Crowder) during a camp that was shortened by two months by the lockout, just to achieve whatever upgrade you're going to get from Kevin Burnett?
You have one of the league's best defenses going in, and you have a camp shortened by the lockout, and you cut your defensive quarterback?
Not sure that's the kind of upgrade you're looking for in that situation. I would've rather left the defense as-is and let them pick up where they left off. As it was you had Dansby switching positions, with Burnett learning the defense anew. Not real smart when you have one month to implement all that instead of three.
Now I think we're seeing the effects of that move. Boneheadedness on Ireland and Sparano's part IMO. They took the one strength of their team and managed to make it a weakness.
