I was listening to ESPN radio yesterday and they were talking about a "new" scandal involving U of M - about some rap song that came out from there. Anyway, a U of M supporter called in to talk about it and mentioned that he hoped Coker punished the guy who sang this rap song and said "thank god we don't have Channing Crowder - a guy with a HUGE criminal past." I was just wondering what he was referring to. Anyone know?

Who cares?

The U of M is in their own pickle while Crowder is in the big leagues, not playing with the kids anymore

Who cares? I do - that's why I asked the question.

i dunno, i just remember he got in trouble a while ago, who cares what those UofM guys say...they turned out ray lewis who killed someone

Got in trouble for beating the crap out of someone outside of a nightclub. There was something else, too.

Channing's play has been downright criminal.
After showing some nice upside in the first 2 weeks, I thought he's regressed a bit. I loved the kid but he's had problems recognizing plays and might be thinking too much instead of letting his instincts take over.

On another note, Channing isn't a saint. He's gotten in altercations after going clubbing and if I remember correctly there was talk of a DUI. Not huge but certainly something that coupled with his knee injuries, sent his stock plunging.

I'm still positive he'll bounce back...Still VERY young.

nj, I know that Crowder has had off-field problems, but what you related doesn't sound like anything that Larry Coker would ever say about anyone. I'm kind of shocked by this, can you clarify what went on?

he got in a couple bar fights when he was a gator.but i've heard him say that he has grown up since then.

No - it was on "The Herd" with Colin Cowherd. He played a tape of this song that had surfaced he said "glorifying rape." Then he said that Larry Coker was upset about it, but had been trying to cover it up. Apparently it was from like a year ago. He said "something like that is expected in a place like Miami." Anyway, a student who goes to U of M called in and said he was confident Coker would punish the U of M player who recorded the song and went on to talk about NFL players with criminal pasts and mentioned Channing Crowder having a "huge" criminal past. I just wondered what that was about.

Don't know much about his history but doesn't sound to bad listening to what some of you guys said. Anytime a 3rd rounder can produce in his 1st year like this kid has...he's OK in my book, until he slaps his wife... ;)

I think he was referring to the caller saying, thank goodness we don't have Crowder etc. not Coker.

The U BTW, has really cleaned up their program and any types of problems anymore seem to be more the exception rather than the rule.

It was a Rap kinda song from two years ago and had "some" football players in it. It was done in a dorm room by a bunch off young rowdy men in college about hoes and ef this and that and ESPN decided to run that as the lead story instead of the new NCAA sanctions put on South Carolina for cheating...under Lou Holtz, the ESPN "expert anal ist" Both Joe Rose and OJ McDuff were all over this on the radio.
