Channing Tindall

Roberts has actually been among our top rated defensive players according to pff. He’s also made some key plays last few weeks. Baker has been solid as usual. We now have probably the deepest olb unit in the nfl. Tindall just hasn’t been able to see the field because he’s not better than the starters
Um you have to be kidding right? Baker solid? Please do me a favour Highzenga - It’s called the Jerome Baker challenge! Rewatch the Detroit game, every play on defence and study only Jerome Baker. Then come back on here and tell me he’s solid…

You can’t miss them in case you’re high… He’s the one with the black shoes

Tindall is athletic but raw... very raw. He didn't even start his last year at Georgia, he was a rotational interior lb.

Hes a project right now and might turn into something special but it may take a year or two. Hopefully we see him more towards the end of the year.

Tons of potential, very raw player. There is a reason he was such a freak athlete and never a starter in college. Hopefully he develops as a player in the offseason.

Ok I will rewatch and study baker

EYEX2 ratings for Roberts and Baker aren’t good.

We are now approaching wk 9 of the season and little to no Channing Tindall involvement in games. What is the word on him? I can be patient but interested to hear if he's looking decent at practice or if he is visibly underperforming and looking like a dud. His college resume on a top Georgia Bulldogs team that won the championship was impressive, but looking forward to seeing make plays for the Dolphins. What have you heard?
Learning the playbook, not so quickly apparently. Lacks instincts, and needs to work on that...

Hopefully he will be used to spy Fields this Sunday.

Was his Goergia resume that impressive? In reality, he wasn't even a starter.

Been saying it for a while. Guys like him and EZ were not ready for "prime time". They needed development. In the case of EZ, he's laying behind some pretty damn good WRs.

In the case of Tindall, the LB responsibilities are complex due to the scheme. He has been getting an increasing number of snaps as he learns.

I trust the staff to know who's ready for what role. They saw Kohou, for example, and said yep, he's ready.

Being a "spy" is more complicated than just playing in a base. Just because he is fast, doesn't mean he can handle the assignments, and decision making.

Slow learning the playbook and lacks instincts? Not a good combination for a player in the NFL. Given time he should be able to get a better grasp of the playbook but instincts at the LB position are something a player either has or doesn’t have.

I have never really seen a top tier LB in college or in the pros that doesn’t have good instincts on the field. Usually when a player doesn’t have good instincts, he ends up thinking too much instead of instantly reacting to what is happening on the field. If instincts are really an issue for Tindall, I doubt he will ever be an effective starting LB in the NFL.

No it's not! Coach puts him in on certain obvious passing downs and says to him " watch the quarterback and tackle him if he leaves the pocket!"

Oh, OK.

You are right, he has zero other responsibilities, depending upon the play. We will just play 10 on 11 defense. The opposing D coordinator will never catch on, and exploit that.............
