I was browsing along some SD Chargers message boards and I came across a good one. I read a lot of messages concerning who the Charger fans want at QB next year. Many of them want Brees signed to a long term deal, and River's out. I came across a few threads discussing this.

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=25914 --- Media asked Brees about QB situation next year

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=26315 --- Brees is popular in this thread. Fans want them to get rid of Rivers.

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=19205 --- Fans think of how they would react if Brees was traded.

http://forums.chargers.com/showthread.php?t=24939 --- Fans speculate on the possibilities of trading Rivers.

It would be crazy for the Chargers to keep both QB's, especially with the talent level. Their is a reason for them getting Feeley. They wanted him as a backup. I really hope we can get Rivers, even if that means we would have to trade our first round pick. http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/philip_rivers is a scouting report on Rivers. What do you guys think about this?

Chargers will dump AJ during the offseason or restructure his contract. They traded Lemon b/c they got a 6th rd for nothing (was signed as a free agent).

Chargers will bid out Rivers and if the price is right..he is gone...

Chargers can keep both river & brees again next year if they want...

Brees is a much better QB than Rivers and always will be. I would keep him to. I would give up a lot for Brees.

That would be pointless. So much talent at the single possition. Even Feeley is too good to be a third stringer right now:lol: .

Chargers fans want to keep Brees??

Shocking.

i 100% can tell you the chargers will keep brees and trade rivers and here is why, with the chargers up big in the game agianst the bills today rivers never seen the field why? becasue they dont want to risk injury to a guy they can get a #1 for

Fishfan4life its not pointless to keep both, Rivers still has a low salary next year, so they aren't going to be under any kind of pressure to get rid of him.

Yeah, I agree.

I think the Chargers are still on the hook for $10 million of Rivers' signing bonus (cap wise). The base salary is very low for the duration of the deal (never reaches $2 million).

If I remember corectly he only counts for 650k against there cap next year. It would be much more cap friendly to keep him than trade him. However the Chargers are suposed to have a great deal of cap space next year so they could probably take the hit if they think they are geting enough value.

The asking price for Rivers is going to be high.

1. Chargers would take a 9 million cap hit.
2. The team that gets Rivers will have him with a low salary/cap number...making him more valuable..new team doesnt have signing bonus or cap hits to worry about.
3. Chargers arent going to trade the #4 pick and a franchise QB for another teams 1 rd pick.

Look what the Giants have to give the Chargers just to swap picks....

your right.. thats why they can keep him.

Any team what wants Rivers would have to serious over pay to get thim. Imagine having a franchise QB would salary cap number is less than 2 million a year. Jason Taylor , Sam Madison, James, each was more than 2 million.

Its horrible, we could of gotten him for free. All we would of had to do was take him over Fletcher. :( It was a simple move really and Wanny blew it.
