no doubt about it. it still gives us a chance even if we finish tied with baltimore.

lets say this happens the next 2 weeks

miami loses to new england, beats buffalo
baltimore beats detroit, loses to new england
san diego beats oakland

under that scenario, all 3 teams would be 8-7 but we'd win the 3 team tiebreaker and control our own destinty going into the last game. but if chargers lost tonite and that scenario played out, miami and baltimore would be 8-7 and chargers 7-8 and we'd lose the 2 team tiebreaker with baltimore based on head to head.

chargers win tonite just gives us more options to get in. now we definitely want them to win out.

totally agree i was hoping for a three team tie. If we are lucky we go 2-1 and so does baltimore all we need is the chargers to go 2-0 and we in. still i am very weary about the game vs buffalo in cold. They seem to have our number.

Good news then, some experts say the playoff scenarios favor us and we're playing at home and our players should feel confident.

not necessarily. if that happens then the 1 baltimore loss has to be against new england or cincinnati. if san diego goes 2-0, we go 2-1, and baltimore goes 2-1 but their 1 loss is to detroit then baltimore gets in. their 1 loss has to be a conference loss.

Well, it also does hurt us a bit in that they can now go 9-7, and would beat us if we went 8-8, which gives another way (out of many) for us to get beaten out if we go 8-8. However, overall, I think it definitely helps our chances.

According to the 2013 nfl post season probabilities site, the ravens went from 33% chance of making postseason to 27%, while we remain at 56%.

A win Sunday would be monumental.

interesting, well there you go - it neither hurts nor helps us if you believe the probabilistic calculator...

playing around with the playoff machine.

this is an amazing scenario. theres a chance after week 16 that we could have the final playoff spot, then beat the jets in week 17 and NOT get in. so we can go from being in, winning our final game then being out lol

miami loses to new england, beat buffalo.
baltimore beats detroit, loses to new england
san diego beats oakland

if that happens all 3 teams are 8-7 and we win the 3 team tiebreaker based on conference record. so going into the last game we have the #6 seed. but then if this happens the final week:

miami beats jets, baltimore beats cincinnati, san diego loses to kansas city

miami 9-7, baltimore 9-7, san diego 8-8. we are OUT!!! thats unbelievable

chiefs will have locked up the 5th seed by then and have nothing to play for. I see them resting their starters for that last game

My crystal ball is saying Baltimore beats Detroit, loses to NE and beats Cincy. I think we'll lose one between Buff and NE and beat the Jets. The Chargers could easily beat Oak and KC.

If my predictions are right that 3 way tiebreaker will get us in. :woot:

The Chargers winning actually hindered us as it now puts them back in the running.. if the Patriots needed any extra motivation or reasons to win against us Sunday - they just got 27 of them from San Diego tonight....

If we beat the Pats, which is very difficult even at home, we can be in the drivers seat, IMO.

I really don't think there will be a 3 way tie between the Ravens, Phins, & SD. I'd bet Cincy will win the North & hope they win Sunday night.

The loss to Baltimore will loom large. However, I'd bet most of us (In Aug) thought beating the Falcons and Indy was not doable.

you think Baltimore will beat Detroit at Ford Field?!? and the Bengals in Cincinnati wk 17?!?!?!? im not sure if your aware but both those teams are legit threats to their Conmference. Personally i dont see Baltimore winning again this year, and as for miami, JUST WIN! Thats all we should be worried about, starting with the Patriots this week
