I think he would make a fine headcoach with a great sense of offense. He's currently the headcoach of Notre Dame, and I don't even know if it's possible since I'm unaware of contract situations. However, he was a great offensive coordinator for the Patriots and I don't think we would have to worry about the college relationship that drove Saban back to the college game. If I had to take a guess, I would think he would prefer an NFL headcoaching position than a college one. Is there a reason why his name isn't circulating around the vacant headcoaching jobs? Has he flat out said he's not leaving the Irish?

Just a thought.

He isn't going anywhere he is creating a Dynasty at ND.

Never heard of him.. He probably sucks though. I bet his team gets blown out in big games...

SkapePhin if you ever say such nonsense ever again i will tie you to a chair and make you watch Ken O'Brien highlights tiill you gouge your own eyes out.

Weis is staying untill his son graduates from Notre Dame then hes going to retire.

I booo'd Obrien at Danny's retirement ceremony...

Anyone know his situation? He wouldn't be open to an NFL headcoaching job? He's committed to the Irish so much so he's going to stay there and retire after his son graduates?

He won't be going anywhere and there is a clause in his contract saying if he leaves before it expires he has to pay the school the money remaining on his contract or something like that.

sorry... that's what I remember hearing. This is a dream come true for him as an alum but if they don't REALLY improve, next year might be his last. Add to that his sons is there... I don't see him leaving this year anyway.

Thanks for the info on Weis.

There would be some seriously upset Fightin' Irish fans if Charlie Weis left for the NFL. I think if Weis were to go back it would be to the Giants. I think he's said that to several people.

Weis signed a 10 year contract extension that is worth between 30-40 Mil. He's not going anywhere soon. Besides, Notre Dame is his Alma Mata and he wants to see them among the elite again.

Weis may not be going anywhere this year, but somebody's going to have to rescue that lil' program down in Alabama in about two years... regardless of what you may hear between now and then to the contrary.

well, I think you are wrong, and I'll bet most will disagree too. Like it or not, Satan is a good college coach and will do better than I'd like...he will not need to be rescued in two years and even more certainly, Charlie will not be his replacment.

Sorry, cnc66, my attempt at humor and a stick at our old coach did not come through clear enough. That winking smilie needs to put more emotion into it!

No, I don't think Weis will leave ND anytime soon. And although I think a point could be made that Satan's credibility with a lot of recruits will suffer, I also doubt he will be in need of a rescue in two years... I was more alluding to him quitting in two years, which may not be likely... but let's just say a precident has been set.

Cheers.
