Charlie Weiss-Future Fin HC ?

I hope this is true, he's a good OC....& at this point anyone is better than Wanstetd.

Where are any of you getting that this is a rumor? The only thing that was stated in this article was that Wannstedt "might" be on the firing line, and Wiess's name "might" come up as a potential replacement.

There are a lot of other coordinators that I'd rather have personally. If we go the coordinator route, I like Brad Childress and Mike Hiemerdinger more. Brad Childress has an obvious advantage, because he has coached both AJ Feeley and Chris Chambers.

The problem with hiring coordinators is that being a good coordinator doesn't always mean you will be a good head coach. You never know till you try, but you don't know if you are getting a Mike Fox type of coach or a Marty Mornigweigh type of coach.

i heard some rumors that Spurrier will be the next dolphins head coach. I think we should give him a shot.. hes a good offensive minded coach but up in washington he couldnt run his team because the Owner was calling all the shots

Wow can you imagine if that mentality kept Don Shula from coming over from the Colts?

No Sense.

This would be ok, except for one thing: Charlie Weiss sucks.

One of the few canidates that sucks even worse then Charlie Weiss.

I'm much more interested in the Nick Saban's, and quite possibily the janitors of a few teams over Charlie Weis(Overrated hack with health problems. The offense doesnt win the team games), and Steve Spurrier, whose translation to the NFL was horrendous, and repeatedly and fundamentally flawed.

I understand what you are saying. It should be pointed out that Shula was a head coach when Miami went after him, and it is very likely that Miami doesn't get him if he didn't have a rift with the ownership in Indianapolis.

Looking at the coaching landscape in the NFL, there's nothing out there that makes my toes tingle. Every coach that will be available has a flaw. You have the available or soon to be available retreads like Dan Reeves and Marty Schottenhiemer. You have coordinators like Romeo Crennel and Brad Childress (whom I like) who are not the architect's of the areas they coordinate. Then, you have the two levels of college coaches. You have the college coaches that have professional coaching experience in Nick Saban, Ralph Friedgen, and Mike Shula. You have the college coaches with zero pro experience in Bob Stoops, Mike Belotti, Dirk Koetter, and Jeff Tedford.

I'd really look seriously into talking Friedgen into becoming the head coach.

Did you happen to notice the mistake that was Spurrier's attempt at NFL coaching? Besides, I think the Skins would have to allow him to take another job since he still had 3 years left on his contract.

If your looking at college coaches, Barry Alverez is another name to throw out there.

This man has serious health issues. He is known for not taking the heat when the media goes after him well at all. There is a reason why teams keep passing on him and go sign other guys.

He isn't head coaching material. The LAST thing we need is another great assistant coach who isn't cut out as a head coach. We have that now.

If we are going to GO in a different direction........lets do it. Not just keep going in the same cycle over and over and over.
My New England Patriot buddy (unbelievable - but we can still be friends) has an uncanny judge of talent. He has told me that Weis is not head coach material... neither is Romeo Crennel...

He said both are lacking the management skills needed - both have staff assistants that contribute as much as they do...

But I noticed how last year neither Patriot Asst. Coach could interview for a possible job until February - and by then it's really too late for a team to consider them, let alone hire them....
