Chat with Spielman

I know it won't make it to him...but here's to hoping:

Hey Rick...glad to see that you're doing well with ESPN....Also glad to see that you are no longer trashing NFL franchises with your incredibly horrendous decision making. Not to mention your expert negotiating skills...great call with that 2nd rounder for Feeley!! Gordon for a third was nice too!!

Note to ESPN....don't let this man anywhere near your HR Department!! Good RIDDANCE!!

I already sent him two questions.

1) Before you were named the Phins GM, it was said that you supplied Wannstedt with a list of 3 players for him to choose from for each pick. Did you really have Eddie Moore on your list of 3 players when our pick in the 2nd round came up or was that Dave's pick?

2) What did you see in AJ Feeley to warrant trading a 2nd round pick for a third string QB? I liked the zip on his throws but as a Phinfanatic I was shocked by us giving up a 2nd round pick for a 3rd string QB.

My wife sent him this question....

Do you think another NFL team will take a chance on you as their GM after your performance as the Dolphins GM?

:rofl3::rofl3::lol::lol:

Ive asked a few questions...... he HAS to address the Gordon and Feeley trade. Come on people, you wanted your shot, now we have it!

Here's mine. I tried for the polite route, in the hopes that he'll answer:

"Rick, glad to see you've landed at ESPN. Before last season, you traded high draft picks for Lamar Gordon (who's no longer a Dolphin) and AJ Feeley (who is a Dolphin, but probably won't be much longer). Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but obviously those didn't work out. Could you tell us what made you pull the trigger on those deals? And given the chance to do it over, would you still make those deals?"

"P.S. Howie Long needs a stunt double for his next box office bomb. Are you available?"

(Okay, I didn't ask that last part, but I wanted to.)

Here's mine:

Do you attribute the Feeley and Gordon trades to a)desperation b)inexperience c)incopetence d)all of the above

The sad thing about it is that he probably wont see those comments as I am sure there is someone there to qualify them before he gets to read them.

This is the man who controlled all the fan mail addressed to the Dolphin org.Do you think any of it got to Wayne or Eddie Jones ? I dont think so.Remember their comments about not having received any complaining letters from fans.

Yup. I made sure to ask about Feeley and Gordon but I did it tastefully.

In throwing in my two cents, I went for overall straight-fowardness:

"Hey Rick, nice to see you landed with ESPN and are no longer with the Dolphins in any capacity. You are one of the worst GM's ever. Your trade for AJ Feeley was incredibly dumb. A 2nd round pick, whether you expect it to be early 2nd or late 2nd, for a 3rd string Qb who's faults were disguised by a good team around him was simply moronic. How come I saw those things in AJ while he was in Philly and you didnt? As bad as that deal was your trade for Lamar Gordon was even worse. Yay, lets deal for a runner who dances in the backfield for ten minutes before hitting the hole. great idea Rick. Really, I honestly hope you find another NFL job....with the Jets, Bills or Pats. Go screw up their franchise. Your pal, Matt"

Here is what I said....

What do you look for when evaluating talent. Also, what do you feel is the best trade you ever made as Dolphins GM. In my opinion it was trading a second round draft pick for A.J. Feeley. Man that was awesome! Thanks for answering my question.
