Just a small thought if the CBA isn't reached and 07 is uncapped. Have some players with huge base salaries (JT - $5.2M) take a play cut this year and promise to play it back plus extra next year with no cap. This would open quite a bit of cap space this year while playing when there is no cap doesn't matter.

Is this a good idea or have I just posted a bunch of crap? :nate:

It makes sense to me, but I am no capologist. Odds are if it was this simple you wouldn't see teams cutting this many people. Also if you do this a team might get into trouble if a new CBA is eventually reached.

Good idea, but under the "rules" if the CBA isn't agreed to by the deadline, a players salary cannot increase by more than 30% of the previous years salary.

30% rule in effect, and the ruling yesterday against the option bonus prohibit such things from happening.

If there is a way to do that, Id be for it, but I think we can get in alot of trouble for doing that. What about incentives, do they count against the cap, maybe give more incentives than garentted money. I dont think every player would be down for this, but just another idea

If we are uncapped for 2007 there will be a lock out so it doesnt matter. Teams will not operate in an uncapped situation, they would hire scabs

i dont like the sound of any of this non sense. starting to piss me off actually
