3 years ago bronco fans wanted shanahan fired.

2 years ago steeler fans wanted cowher fired.

last year giant fans wanted coughlin fired.

Last year charger fans wanted marty fired.

titan fans want fisher fired.

These coaches have been given a fair chance to suceed, even during times of stress their owners stuck with them and now are headed in the right direction or have proved that by sticking with them they went thru the lull and came back on top.

All that i'am trying to say is that when you find a man that has such conviction and belief in himself and is a great leader {i think we all respect saban for these characteristics}you stick with him because eventually that strong will that he has will eventually win his players over and grown men will follow

Not only that but regression as a reason for firing is a proven fallacy with regards to good coaches.

When NE won the SB under BB and then regressed to 6-10 they didnt call for his head.
When Baltimore went from dominating to AFC Division game they didnt call for Billick's head.
Most sane Pitt fans arent calling for Cowhers head now.

The list goes on but the point is that we overachieved last year obviously and thats all coming out now. The key will be how we respond to that in the offseason and if we improve the rest of this season.

no there not and none of them would ever admit that they did,,

Saban is being positive and passive at the same time because he knows that this team has to police themselves and start playing for each other, thare's no comraderie on this team no family type atmosphere,no leadership and saban knows that,,we must give him time because we don't want to lose a guy with his type of character

And? All of those coaches have had considerable success as head coaches in the league before being placed under fire. Coach bashing happens in this league sometimes it's justified sometimes it's not. But please wait until Saban actually does something before you compare him to a 2 time Super Bowl winner and a coach who's won 8 division titles and appeared in the AFC Championship game 6 out of his 14 years.

I believe in Saban but remember that conviction and belief isnt a guarantee of success. You think Spurrier didnt have belief in himself?

IF I'AM COMPARING THAN YOU ARE CONTRADICTING YOURSELF BY COMPARING SABAN TO SPURRIER,EITHER YOU BELIEVE IN A THE MAN'S PHILOSOPHIES OR YOU DON'T SOUNDS LIKE YOUR ON THE FENCE TO ME

First of all, I don't think that Saban is a great leader. He is petty, paranoid, and rigid. As for the comparison between him and those other coaches, thats nonsense. These guys are either A) Super Bowl winning coaches or B) Coaches that have led multiple franchised to the playoffs. This rat-bas***d we know as Nick Saban has proven to be a disaster. Nothing like these other coaches.

But you keep selling this snake-oil, and in the mean time the Fins will keep losing, and my case gets easier and easier to make. Saban sucks....the players know it, many fans know it, and when he get canned, all of you Saban Athletic Supporters are going to deny ever liking him. I've seen this all before.

Pathetic reasoning. All of these coaches had won a SB. If you win a SB and regress, it might be acceptbable, because the coach has credibility. NE fans know BB's system can win them a SB. Same in Baltimore (though they are losing patience, justifiably) and same in Pittsburgh. What has Nick Saban proven? That he can take a 4-12 team and after two years, make it worse than when he got here. Trust me, if those teams start getting worse than 4-12 teams....those fans will want, and will deserve to have the head coach fired. And they want have silly defenders trying to make up reasons to keep a loser.

Why type of character? A character that has this team 1-6 and sure to be 1-7 after Chicago gives us the beat down we have coming? We don't want to lose that? What are you people, sadist/masochists? I sure as HELL want to lose a guy with Saban's (lack of) character. I want a guy who is going to turn this franchise around. And Saban ain't the answer. And the whole NFL knows it. We are the bottom of just about every power poll out there. I don't think we break 30 in any of 'em. We are a consensus bottom four team in the league. If you don't want to lose that, then I don't have any idea of what to tell you.

FINALLY someone has made an accurate comparison. Spurrier is the analogy we need to be making...Not a SB winning coach. Comparing Saban to any coach that has won a division is silly, much less comparing him to won who has won multiple SBs. This is crazy. Great post,BTW.
Saban=Spurrier-the visor.

I agree with you, but I am getting a little tired of reading articles were SAban says that they are thinking of changing some plays or position some players in different places to take advantage, also he says that it a good idea since they have done it in the past and it works. Why the **** havent you done these things before if thay have worked in the past?????????? That is just stupid, if something worked you keep doing until it dosent work, why would you stop doing it completely?

So what you're telling everybody here is that it's more acceptable for somebody with experience and Super Bowl wins to suck than it is for someone that's new and learning? Only in the NFL. I hate this season as much as you but I think it's a mistake to think about firing Saban until we see what next season is all about. That's when we find out if he can learn from his mistakes and make this team a winner or not.

i hate to say it to all the saban bashers.... but i think saban is going to stick around atleast another 2 years or so...... i think by the end of the 2008-2009 season if we havent drasticly improved then hes going to be fired ..... until then i wouldnt hold my breath if i were you guys...... how long did we call for wanstashes head before mr.H fired him....He's sticking around for a while so get ready for it......

That's funny to hear considering the quote at the bottom of your post. Which one is the real you?
I think it is going to be hilarious to watch when Saban's style starts dominating the division. A Lot of you here are using BB as a coach to aspire to but have any of you listened to what he says of Saban. He doesn't like him being a coach in his division and has regularly expressed concern about facing him. This almighty coach that everyone talks about thinks Saban is going to build a great team.

Saban has proven NOTHING in the NFL, unlike all the pro coaches you mentioned. Your post proves nothing except that you are desperate to justify your continuing support for a man who has proven he doesn't know how to coach in the NFL.

You are very correct. I think most people are fine giving Saban another year or 2. However, it's very disturbing being 1-6 in the middle of his 2nd year. The team has regressed, which is never a comforting feeling when one is rebuilding.
