Chiefs ink Cassel to long-term deal

He had a better season than Chad Pennington

No he didn't. They had comparable seasons but i'd give the edge to Pennington. 97.4 qb rating to 89.4 for Cassel. We also didn't trade for Pennington, nor did we pay him close to that.

He will be exposed this year, and the Pats FO will get props again for getting a #2 out of KC for unloading him at the right time.

Still think they wasted a draft pick, as I feel there is very little difference in quality or style between Thigpen and Cassell.

Says the guy who's team didn't make the playoffs over the Pennington led Dolphins

Man you're right. Automatically, no questions asked, every QB that made the playoffs had a better year than the ones that didn't. Dree Brees, to hell with your season! Chad Pennington had a better year than you!

Cassell will never come close to the #'s he put in NE. He will be a bigger bust than Scott Mitchell.

I disagree. I think Matt Cassel has the "it" factor that seperates a Matt Cassel from a Scott Mitchell. I say this because I'm a Patriots fan? No. I say this because I saw him make plays when they mattered and step his game up either throwing OR running. This is still a guy who hadn't started since 1999 in High School who threw for 3600 yards and 21 TDS and an 89 rating. You can talk about the system and the weapons but its still impressive. Give the man his due.

I won't give him his due until after he plays a season with the Chiefs. You know, without Randy Moss/ Wes welker etc. on his team. Im sure he will show his true colors when Dwayne Bowe is his #1, an old Engram and no Tony G. You my friend, are a homer who feels the need to defend an ex-Pat. It's ok to defend, but I've seen him play every game living in Boston. He doesn't have the "it" factor you speak of IMO. I'm also not so sure they would be so anxious to get rid of him, even if Brady is 100%. We aren't going to convince each other until we see him play, but my money is he will disappoint.

I think Cassel will do fine. Nothing astronomical but he should put up good numbers. I think his salary is a bit ridiculous, though.
