This offseason, Kansas City Chiefs right guard Brian Waters has expressed his unhappiness to local newspapers about the way rookie coach Todd Haley and new general manager Scott Pioli have treated him. So, word is that he wants out.

And what is the biggest area of concern along the Miami Dolphins' offensive line? Right guard, of course. Donald Thomas will likely be back from injury when training camp starts, but the appeal of a Pro Bowl player like Waters may be too much to pass up. That doesn't mean the Dolphins should necessarily make a trade, though.

Ireland said we're broke. sign the rookies and that's it, and they're far apart on all contracts with them.

The "new" chiefs have too many ties to the Pats to deal any decent player to us. IF he's moved anywhere, it will either be to the NFC or a non-contender in the AFC. I'm sure they'll be asking a fairly hefty price too, even though he's 32.

That's ridiculous...so they'd let an unhappy player sit on there roster and not get anything in return cause we are rivals with Pioli's ex- team......Too many conspiracy theorists around the NFL today....If he is gonna trade him he may not trade to the AFC WEST but the AFC teams in the North South and East are fair game...

I would have to agree that him being previously from NE holds no weight on this situation.

But either way, i dont see him becomming a Dolphin this year.

if another AFC West team offered an arm and a leg for Waters Pioli would have to consider that as well. at the end of the day, you have to do what's best for your team.

Great player but to old and to expensive ..

32 isn't that old for an OG who has been solid as a rock throughout his career. We passed on G/C Pete Kendall back about 5 years ago when he was about that age and when we really could've used him and he gave 5 more good years to the Jets.

I know Donald Thomas graded out well in the 1 game he played last year and I know he is supposed to be ready for training camp but....he's really totally unproven and possibly injury prone.

Justin Smiley is also kind of injury prone and coming off a horrible leg injury.

Even Jake Grove has had his own bouts with injuries.

I think it's clear that we have major question marks with out interior OL.

Brian Waters would answer those questions resoundingly. Our competition for the best 5 starters would be great and our depth would be great.

LT Long, Gardner
LG Smiley/Thomas, Murphy
OC Grove, Berger, Quinn
RG Waters, Ndukwe, Frye
RT Carey, Garner

Now that OL looks strong and deep!

One last comment - we're going into this season with an aging starting NT
in Jason Ferguson and a complete question mark behind him in Soliai. The best way to protect our NT is to keep them fresh and the only way you keep them fresh is with a ball control offense and to be a ball control offense, you need a great OL.

I'd trade for Brian Waters.

Maybe a mid round 2010 pick plus TE David Martin would get it done. KC needs to make up for the loss of Tony Gonzalez and I'm sure Pioli wants as many picks as possible for the 2010 draft.

P.S. The comparative "too" is spelled t-o-o as in "he's not too old".

We need to go get this guy! Thomas will not be ready for camp...this guys is proven and has a two year contract which is ideal in my opinion for out current status. Compensation is the key here...I'd give up no more than a 4th rounder and thats pushing it.

He's a pro bowl RG and only 32. I'd give up a player and a 4th if necessary. OL is the key to our season.

If our defense makes a leap, and we can be a ball-control offense featuring a safe passing game (Penny) and a dominant running game (Ronnie/Pat/Ricky), well...ya never know, we could be playing a home game Super Bowl.

IMO, interior OL and run D are the only major question marks for this 2009 team and Brian Waters would solve BOTH of those concerns.

I personally don't think we'd have enough money left over for our rookies if we get this guy. Ireland is already in a crunch trying to figure out how to keep us under the cap while signing all the rookies. Getting Waters would pretty much completely screw all that up
