I dunno. If there's not a good replacement out there, he should probably get another year.

I know the Chiefs have had an appalling record for the past few seasons but, in part, I think that's because they decided to 'clean the slate' and start over again. Some of the draft choices haven't panned out too well for them but that's where Pioli should improve things considerably.

I don't think it would be right for them to sack Herm just for the sake of it (and they won't). Although they had a terrible record last season, they showed some promise and it might be a step back to bring in a new Head Coach.
 
Herm wanted to rebuild early but they wanted to make another run. Bringing in a new GM I think they should let him go. I doubt they're good next year so start the complete overhaul now.
 
They had a few close games where they let the lead slip. If they get that little bit better and hold onto some of those leads, I reckon they're looking at about a 6-10 record. It's still not brilliant but is quite a bit better than 2-14 and has them heading in the right direction. They lost seven games by seven points or less (including four by four points or less) and didn't lose by more than ten in nine of their last ten (only the Bills beat them by more in that span). While losing by 'not that much' isn't anything to brag about, it shows they're not an absolutely huge margin away from creating more victories.

I can understand why new administration might want to 'clean house' but it's not something to do for the sake of it if you don't have a better replacement waiting in the wings.
