Vikings coach Brad Childress said Daunte Culpepper's primary focus during offseason talks was money.

"As I mentioned, I never had a conversation with him about this football team," Childress said. "It was always about what he needed financially and money. I never heard team, I always heard me and I and 'I need 10 million dollars. I'm a 10 million-dollar-a-year quarterback." Childress said he expected Culpepper would be his quarterback when he took the job

Absolutley.
I'm sure Minny will have fun with a 6-10 record next year, one of those losses coming here vs. the Fins. :dolphins:

Awe...pobrecito! Yeah, sour grapes indeed. CP didn't like the situation there anymore so why talk about anything else. Although, that would suck for him to take the job thinking "they got a Pro Bowl QB, etc..." then CP walks when he takes the job. D'OH!!!

That would explain Daunte immediately restructuring his contract upon arrival in Miami. :rolleyes2

go ahead turn a blind eye

again this goes to Dauntes' character. His first interview with ESPN he went on & on about how it wasn't about the money, how he just wanted clarity on his situation. I think I would call the owner ready to give him a 6 million dollar roster bonus & repeatedly denying trying to trade him some idea that they wanted to keep him around. They didn't go out & try to sign a free agent to replace him, just old man Johnson who was already on the roster.

Daunte never gave any indication he was going to be part of the team, from refusing to rehab in Minnesota to blowing off scheduled meetings with the new coaching staff, to several times demanding more money. Money is also the reason for a 1 day camp holdout last preseason.

it's easy to bad mouth him now, isn't it?? he's quite classless to say the least. sometimes it's best to keep one's big mouth shut!! especially since he's new to coaching...:tantrum:

he's not taking a cent less

only converting from salary to bonus for this season. It won't be long before he asks for more. If he can repeatedly ask for more money after a horrible season & a pretty bad injury, just wait till he comes back & wins his typical 8-9 games, he'll think he's a 20 million qb then

Did Childress expect the entire team to be waiting for him at the airport, to help him with his bags when he got off the airplane? It's the offseason, not even close to mini-camp, rookie camp, or even off-season workouts... he's PO-ed because Daunte wanted to rehab in Florida rather than frozen Minnesota? Yeah, Daunte is obviously in the wrong here. Whatever. Childress seems upset that Daunte didn't kiss his ***. HE should have sought out Daunte, it *was* Daunte's team... as CHildress will learn in about 2 seasons when he is fired.

whatever...He's just spewing all this out now cause he's gotta get the Viking Nation behind HIM(childress). ALL the fans were probably getting on his case already about this...I'm sure those fans are thinking, "Why did we let Culpepper go again??"

Could it be that Pep didn't want to learn yet another offense? Childress I would think is going to install the west coast offense which is what he ran in Philly.

To me it doesn't matter at all, bottom line is we got a darn good QB!

He really isn't very bright. He doesn't have the decision making abilities to run the WCO

Childress? You mean the ex-HC of MIN in 3 to 4 years?
I'll be surprised if Childress makes it more than one year there. So far he has fired every Viking coach, trainer, strength coach and even the office staff. He has replaced every one of them with a less experienced coach. Not one new Viking coach or trainer has NFL experience at their position.

He didn't want Daunte from the start, because he didn't want anyone who was a threat to his authority. He did everything to force him out, beginning with insisting that he rehab in Minny, which Daunte's doctors advised him not to. After all, why would you leave Florida to go to Minny in the middle of winter to rehab 3 torn ligaments??

Childress flat out lied to Daunte. He said he was his starter then he would make a comment out of the side of his mouth saying "never say never." That is why Daunte said it was all about respect for him, could you see any coach treating their franchise QB like that. Do you see Daunte asking the Dolphins for more money, Childress is full of it.

All Childress was in Philly was a glorified clipboard holder. Andy Reid for all intent purposes was the OC. He game planed and called all the plays.
