Chip Kelly's offense broken down (and what we may see)

I think Mr Magoo has better vision then Miller. I hope Moreno gets in shape.

I think our rbs will be ok outside of goal line or short distance downs. We need DT to step up as a power back. We need someone to play that role. Miller can be a good back and Moreno is pretty good but neither are power backs.

OK, I gave that video 9 min and I think he talked actual football for about 90 seconds. If he wasn't patting himself on the back (for reading and presenting what's already, admittedly, online) so much he could have a 3 min tutorial and everyone would be stoked. It's a decent starter vid, but all you really need to do is watch Oregon play. If it took that dude 12 hours of film to recognize the formations that tip plays then maybe he should try something else.

The other videos are somewhat better..

The playbook with alignment, blocking and play design was decent as well....granted it is very basic...

JMO but, I think what Kelly di last year would have more of a bearing than what he did in College from 2007 to 2009. That's a long time ago.

Is the current O in Philly the same?

oh wow i didnt even notice how old that was lol, still enjoyed him discussing it.

Doesn't matter how long ago it was....still running a version of the offense...

Of course it does. How has the version change over 4-5 years? I don't know of any coach who has not changed and adapted over that length of time, and then again to the NFL.

Sherman's O worked well in college but, how did that transition?

Not all that well SB. He got canned at A&M.

Since Lazor has the keys to the offensive i would expect him to combine all he's learned with Philbin's overall philosophy to come up with his own brand of offense. Lazor ball :brewskis:

Agree FF. I believe he is going to discount Philbin's O, and go with Philly last year to a big degree. The only probem is that Philly had one of the best run blocking OL that anyone has seen in many years. We'll see how he adapts.

I meant as the basic premise...alignment, formation, the blocking are all going to be basically the same with some tweaks here or there...it was done to give people an idea of specific plays and how they were run in Oregon. I never once said that this is the offense they would use I was just giving some information on what one might expect especially after hearing the reports out of the OTA. I would also give a glance to the Air Coryell offense as well as the WCO some of the principals are similar in the passing game and it seems to want to combine both aspects.

video break down with play calls

Shows the install videos from Oregon's offense from 2007 - 2009...

The last video is a good o-line drill video

This site shows several more video that break down Chip Kelly's offense at Oregon.

This is an excellent video that give you a really good basis understanding of the offense. Especially the Zone read (both inside and outside)

Why post this...I honestly believe we will see elements of this offense...granted much of it will be adjusted for the NFL and will have other influences from Lazors other past experiences, but I thought it could be informative.

Finally, here is a general playbook that explain the spread offense

I just picked a page so you get an idea what you will find in the above link....it is worth a look.

Sorry about the thumbs down - meant to hit the thumbs up button. Excellent post.

I hope lazor is going to be as good as advertised. It would be nice to have him as a head coach in the future IMO.

Damn.....maybe I will have to draft Tannehill as my fantasy football QB this year ....I had Matt Ryan last year and I sucked.
