Receiver Chris Chambers says the area that he wants to polish is his route-running. But there's something else that's a bigger concern. ESPN.com stats guru KC Joyner unearthed two disconcerting numbers about Chambers' otherwise exceptional 1,118-yard, 11-touchdown season:
Besides fumbling five times (two were lost), his 17 dropped passes were second-most in the NFL behind only Muhsin Muhammed. And Joyner said Chambers lost 318 potential yards by dropping those passes -- easily the worst in the league.
''I thought Chambers would be even better than last year,'' HBO analyst and former Dolphins receiver Cris Carter said off air. ``He has at least one or two levels he could

Miami would love for rookie Derek Hagan to claim the No. 3 receiver job, but the position remains open heading into camp. One player said Hagan has impressed with his speed and hasn't dropped balls like he did during Senior Bowl week, but needs to refine his route-running

Reaction to Marcus Vick has been mixed. Some players note he made progress as a receiver, but others view his performance as pedestrian. He must prove his worth as a returner to make the active roster. Journeyman receiver Frank Murphy impressed in minicamps

Thanks for the insight Crunch. I still think Hagan is gonna be viewed as a serious steal-probably not for about 2-3 years, but I think we are set at WR for a while.

Thats strange, I thought route-running was Hagan's specialty

thanks for the info, we all know that chambers is a great wr who just sometimes finds it harder to catch the easier passes but then amazes us with one handed leaping graps, im expecting a better year from chambers with the addition of culpepper and the confidence he gained last year....i feel that hagan will also claim the 3rd wr postion due to his size

Right...and speed was supposed to be a weakness??? O'well either way he'll be fine.

Actually, I think it was a knock on him coming out of ASU. He is good sized (6-1 and 202), and has great speed and acceleration for somebody his size. He is known for going after the ball and despite his senior bowl debacle, has great hands.
I saw him "Improvise" on many a play, but that might be a direct result of him not being where he should to begin with:wink:

I have been on the record... forever in regards to the major holes in Chambers game.... while I agree he could be special... he has only supplied special moments.... As you may recall it wasn't until Saban called him out last season that Chambers started to play to a higher level....

Now that he got his PB... he'll be under the microscope... imo... this season will define Chambers one way or the other....

Maybe Chambers will benefit from better passes this year, also Im surprised Carter did say anything about Chambers not complaining to the ref enuf, Carter cried pass ineference after every play.

I like Hagan to prove very productive in third down situations.... the guy is explosive out of his breaks... is physical... and sure handed...

If DC gains confidence in this guy... watch out!

I agree. I also think that Hagan and Ronnie will compliment each other in the red-zone. Not many "Nickel" backs are gonna be able to play Hagan 1 on 1 in the red-zone, and the effort to overcome might help open things up for Ronnie.
Sure doesnt hurt to have C-pepp throwin the pill either:wink:

I am anxious to see what Chambers can do with a QB who is accurate and who can hit him in stride.

Hopefully he reduces his dropped balls .

you know, the more pressure we put on them with CC, DB and DH [or pick one] the better Randy McMike looks. Daunte knows how to use a tight end[just stop now] and his numbers, effectiveness and value could very well jump dramatically.

chambers is a top teir reciever in the league. he runs the double stop so well he jukes most defenders out of there clets it is kinda funny in his ultimate genius that carter forgot to mention the number of balls that were underthrown. with a real qb like cpep who can throw a spiral further than 20 yards lets see what he can do know.
