Maddening Miami
The Miami Dolphins continue to show that they still can't run the ball and it's having a big impact on the passing game.
Daunte Culpepper didn't play poorly against the Texans, but Pro Bowl receiver Chris Chambers had just two catches for 12 yards prior to his 16-yard scoring reception late in the fourth quarter. Ultimately, the blame goes back to the offensive line. There are a lot of bad lines in the league, but this group is bad in both pass protection and run blocking. The unit has had some injuries, but this is a patchwork group that I don't see getting any better this year.

I'm surprised Carter's going to bat for Daunte so much. He has not always been as willing to defend him when he's analyzed Daunte in the past...but this year he's definitely in Daunte's corner.

Carter has defended Daunte non-stop for about 8 months now.

Although Daunte hasn't played like 2004....it may be a real long time for him to get back to that form......I'd say the Oline is our biggest problem.

Why does Daunte have to reach the same form he had in 2004 to begin with? You do realize that was one of the best single seasons in NFL history for a QB, right?

This is part of the problem. People expect that we got the 2004 Daunte for a 2nd round pick and when he plays a little more like 2005 than 2004, they're like, we got hosed.

The 2000 Culpepper was pretty good also.

3937 yards 33 tds 16 ints qb rating: 98.0
470 rush yards 7 tds

40 tds.. is pretty good.(41 in 2004)

i wish we still had cris carter on our team probably wouldnt make a differece right now though

We did, and he sucked.

I think the o-line can be adequate if we leave them alone for a couple games at least. I dont understand tho why D-Mac was in at RG with never playing there. Why not move Carey to RG where he has played before and let D-Mac play RT where he is comfortable? If you are gonna go best 5 I agree D-Mac is part of teh best 5 but Carey playing guard seems more reasonable since he has experience there at some point in his life. Must feel he cannot play there in the NFL. Either way if this line doesnt gel and pick up assignments, O-line 1, o-line 2 and O-line 3 should be top priority in FA and then make o-line top priority in the draft.

Give me a break with C-Pep - he has been just brutal. You can't defend him holding onto the ball, having zero pocket presence, and making some terrible decisions. Let's not forget this guy has how many fumbles that we have been lucky to have recovered. He has missed alot of guys and the one reason has any stats is because he has become Mr. Dump Off. He used to scramble to buy time just to throw deep. Now he throws dump passes every chance he gets. This offense is painful but it's not just the Oline! How about creating a deep threat to hold the safeties once and a while. You have to attempt to throw deep even it's a 3 step drop and loft a sideline long high pass. There has to be an attempt at least.

Are you telling me that if we put our 11 BEST offense guys on the field that BArnes and Peele would be there? Then we are worse off than I thought. We ar emaking ZERO big plays and I'm watching Peele and Barnes on the field - RIDICULOUS!! SPread 4 wide and find your mismatch - You ain't blocking the blitzes keeping 8 in so why not try and spread them out.

Heh, I was thinking the exact same thing. Since it appears that Duante is gonna get hit whether we go into max-protect or not, might as well go 4 or 5 wides, accept that the blitz is coming and try to burn 'em.

Welcome to "Moo-ball"! In 2005, Buffalo had only 9 plays of 40 or more yards all season. In 4 preseason and 4 regular season games in 2006, the Bills had 6 40+ yard plays, and they played their first two regular season games very conservatively. Another reason Bills fans dislike Mularkey.
