Chris Chambers on Sirius NOW

Call him and tell him he needs a pay cut ASAP!
 
Here's what he had to say:

Cam -

He is talking about how Cameron is running an uptempo practice on offense and there was not a clear direction for the offense when Saban was there. He talks about how there is always a different offense and coordinator every year and he things that Cam will bring stability at a lot of positions.

He wants to make sure he is a Cam Cameron type of receiver. He needs to learn the offense well so he can pick up the pace.

Daunte -

He has no idea about whether Daunte will be with the team opening day, but he is working hard on rehab. Chris thinks he is still a few months away and he doesnt know if we have time for him to get healthy.

Trent Green -

He said that they all need to play better to make the QB better. He would like to play anybody that would be stable at the QB position. Trent would get the job done if he was there. "We can't count on Pepper right now." Someone is going to have to come in and step up as the QB, and it needs to happen soon, either at draft time or shortly after. He couldn't get a rapport going with Daunte or Joey last year.

The offense needs to work hard to get on the same page and if they work hard they can get the offense started off on the right foot.

Brady Quinn -

He thinks Brady was coached very well but he doesn't know if he is ready to start right away.

Cleo Lemon -

Cleo is going to be a solid QB and he played well last year - had a better presence than Joey in the huddle. He needs to improve still, but he is very competitive.

Ricky -

Chris wants Ricky to come back. He can tell how focused Ricky is, and Ricky is a great teammate. He thinks the yoga could help out other guys on the team.

Calvin Johnson -

There is no way this guy will not be successful. He has the body, type and speed to succeed. Needs to work on route running.

Saban -

There was something missing when Saban was here, and his coaching style was geared for a college athlete. The constant screaming gets tiring. It's good for the team that Cam is here.

Ted Ginn -

Chris is a friend and a big fan of Ginn....I don't think he would mind if he was a phin.

Good stuff there. Thanx for the input. I hope he can do something. These mediocre years are starting to get a little old. He needs to step it up a notch or 2. If he is to be paid as a #1 then he better damn well play like one.

It was the way Wannsted and Speilman structured the contract. It was light all the way up until last year when it suddenly exploded. The contract was way to back heavy and is hurting our cap now.
 
You know he should not talk about the negatives of other athletes specially when he himself is guilty of it...

On Calvin he said that he had to improve his route running???/

Chris baby, how would you know, when have you ever had consistant years of good route running yourself ???

edited-Sorry Aqua did not mean to disrespect your avatar... Chris is an extremely luck and gifted athlete...and I really hope he helps get this team turned around...
 
Fair play to Chris, he seems like a hard worker. Yes he's inconsistant, which bothers me as much as anyone, but he's still the best wideout on this team. If we could get a first rounder for him I'd be inclined to take it, but only if we were to use it on a better WR.
Imagine if we could get a mid first for him, trade our second rounders and somehow grab Quinn and Calvin Johnson. I would give up next years first as well. I'm drunk as I write this so it seems like a great idea. Sure we'll have no line or depth, but we'd be fun to watch.
 
Chambers did make a very good point. In his 6 years in the league he has been through 4 offensive coordinators and now in his 7th year he's under Cameron so that makes 5. In 06 it was Mularkey, 05 was Linehan, 02-04 was Norv Turner, I can not remember who it was in 01. Sorry. But also in that time we've had so much turnover at the QB position. 06 was Pepper/Harrington/Lemon. 05 was Frerotte/Feely/Rosenfels. 04 was Fiedler/Feely. 03 was Fiedler/Lucas. So while I do agree that Chris Chambers is overpayed and inconsistent some of the blame has to be put on the way the offense scheme and the QB changes year to year. Once we get some stability at the QB position and implement an offense for more than one year we might see some better production out of our guys.

No worries man, you have your opinion and I respect that. I just can't respect the people who constantly say they hate him and ridicule me for my opinion. You're right, he is amazingly gifted and that's why he's my favoirte player.
 
My favorite too. He is still our best receiver and the calls to cut him are ridiculous. Who would we go into next year with? Booker, Hagan, Az hakim, Campbell, Vick (who I want to see succeed) and possibly a draft pick? We would be doomed and ridiculed if we do.

Thank you for a voice a reason. Cutting a player doesn't help when you would get much worse without that player. Just because he has a big contract doesn't mean we have to cut him. We are fine with the cap so Chambers gets this season to earn his money.
