Well, let me first apologize for another Chambers thread, but hopefully this is one that might satisfy both sides of the argument concerning Chris...

I believe when looking at the stats below we can all come to understand some of the good points from both sides, those that appreciate what Chris has done and those that believe that he has not performed as a noted # 1 WR…

The compiled stats are from two sources, which are:
1- STATS FANTASY website at: http://snap.stats.com/stats/nflinfo/index.asp
2- NFL.COM website at : http://www.nfl.com/

Now these are some of the TOP WR playing currently in the NFL and they all maybe earning # 1 WR status, some are not but either they have the potential or they have had the status in the past…

Now, I have only used the stats form the last 2 ½ years (2003-2005), because I wanted the data to reflect the STATS “Dropped Passes†stats, and I could not locate any other way to use that stat prior to 2003. This makes my data seem more equal and show as a fair assessment between all NFL players stated below. Now, I don’t believe that the STATS data is a fair assessment of the players but hopefully it is equally maintain for all players… Chris has had Qb’s over this same period completing an average of over 54% of their passes…

The following legend explains what the stat is and how I have shown it:

1- Target = The ball is thrown around the WR’s vicinity.
2- First Downs = Combined First Downs “Receptions†and “Rushing†plays.
3- FD % = Combine % touches (receiving and rushing) for FDs.
4- Passes Caught = The stat says it all.
5- Dropped Passes = Those passes that were judged by STATS to be well within the ability of the WR to catch.
6- Fumbles = The stat says it all.
7- Dropped % of Passes = The % of “Passes Dropped†from (“Dropped Passes†combined with “Passes Caughtâ€Â).

8- Touches per LOP = The average of touches per Loss of Possession, or after how many plays does the player commit a fumble or drop a pass. For this stat I combined “passes caughtâ€Â, “rushing attemptsâ€Â, fumbles, drops and then was divided by the combined number of drops and fumbles.

So here we go…

C. Chambers = # 1 (350); # 2 (127); # 3 (67%); # 4 (169 or 48%); # 5 (12); # 6 (5); # 7 (7%); # 8 (12)…

You guys and gals can work out the numbers and pick those that execute the best and those that have not executed well. You can be the judge in where Chris ranks in this pack…

I believe he is…

The Middle of the pack in “Targetedâ€Â…
The Middle of the Pack in “FD†%...
Upper Middle of the pack in “FDâ€Â…
Worst of the pack in “Passes Caught %â€Â...
Middle of the pack in “Passes Caughtâ€Â…
Lower Middle of the pack in “Drops %ÃÂ…
Lower Middle of the pack in “Dropsâ€Â…
The Bottom of the Pack in “Fumblesâ€Â…
Middle of the pack for “Touches per LOPâ€Â…

Enjoy and hope it was not too boring...

I really don't care about stats, chambers is simply not getting the job done. Lets just say chambers has a decent day vs cleveland this week. Well you know what the big game was last week, this week is virtually meaningless. See what I am saying? Big deal play well vs the browns... how about a home game vs the first place divisional opponent. How about showing up for the big game? Somehow I would love to see chambers be the 3rd/slot receiver next year.

I appreciate your responses...

Chris is being noticed more by us, so we tend to see his faults more than any other WR's. His production is right in the middle of that pack of receivers in the thread...

But still the one question is, is his high salary equal his performance/execution on the filed?

No matter how bad some of his performace was, you still have to respect he got 2 TDs, on a bad day for him. He double his season drops (called by STATS) in the game...

Also IMO, he seems to lacks confidence in catching the ball in traffic. Maybe that is why he is always looking for a flag after every contact...

Again stop quoting me stats, I couldn't care less he doubled his td stats... meaningless. The game was on the line, and the effort was pathetic.. end of story.

great post . i think he would be really good with a better QB

agreed, i think that if a qb is inconsistent then his recievers become inconsistent with him, football is a team game, it has many relay effects

Another lame excuse... It must be pretty easy going through life with such low expectations. Me, well lets just say I want a great team. A team with chris chambers leading the way is lucky to make the playoffs.

It has been 5 years, I see nothing to write home about...

I have a headache from deciphering all of the numbers, =,-,+ this and because of this - that....etc....bottom line is he's not a #1, never has been a #1 and never will be a #1!
