Chris clemons Int to the house (vid)

The ball was thrown right at him and way in front of the wide receiver, he just had to step in front of the WR. I don't see the big deal. Only thing i gather from that is that he was willing to get in the line of fire and that he's fast as hell. Well, I guess it's not so bad lol. Thanks for the vid.

Seems like its Chris Clemons turn to get over-hyped.

Damn, talk about a stingy crowd! You guys call it 'lucky'. I call it 'where preparation meets opportunity'.

He did his job on the play. He initially flowed to his right, toward the most likely threat to his zone. Then he read the 'dig' route and flowed left, keeping the WR in front of him, which is exactly where he belongs in a Quarters defense. When the ball went in the air, Clemons broke on it with speed and made the leaping interception.

After the catch is where he showed a good amount of creativity by cutting all the way his left, and flashed his 4.33 speed by making every angle disappear.

This is exactly the kind of play he could make in the pro game.

I thought it was a real nice play as well.

The speed to get back across the field was impressive.

The most impressive aspect of the video, I agree.

But some other nice things that he showed on it include: creativity with the ball in his hands, route recognition, burst to the football, and hands.

The kid is smart, and I love that much speed in our backend, I'm not use to 4.3 speed at the safety position....if this guy can keep everything in front of him and break on the ball with pop.. we have something. Plus Sprano keeps hoping on his contact ability.. can't wait to see more of him..

I was saying just last night MD that I love his speed and if he loves contact as much as they say he does this guy could have a lethal combination back there. I love nothing more than those big hitting play making safeties.

I don't think you ever want to see the guy playing cornerback, despite his speed and leaping ability, because I don't like his back pedal or hip flexibility...but as a safety the guy could be killer.

As I said in another thread...it's kind of sad that the last time Miami added a safety with his size, speed and playing profile...they had to do it in the 1st round. And it wouldn't surprise me if this one ends up with better instincts and mental ability than the other.

throughout these last couple years i have seen our safeties drop some easy interception so it's good to see he can make a play even when it's just catching the ball thrown right to him

I hear ya, and if this is true of him then we have 4 good hitting Safeties, since Culver hits pretty good also.. All I say is keep everything in front of them..for Chris he can use his speed, for the others, they have to use their savy..but hopefully WR's start thinking a little when entering the strike zone..I mean running across the middle, that is..

The great thing about Miami's current crop of safeties is that aside from Culver, all of them have speed.

Gibril Wilson is between a 4.40 and 4.50 in the speed department.

Yeremiah Bell is a genuine 4.40 guy. Don't believe me? Go back and watch the KC game from 2008. Watch him track down Jamaal Charles from behind, saving him from scoring a touchdown. He flat out ran faster than Jamaal Charles on the play, with both going at top gear...and Charles ran a 4.37 at the NFL Combine.

Now, Chris Clemons is between a 4.30 and 4.40 kind of guy. He's a long strider, so functionally he's not fast like a cornerback...but as a safety I'm not sure that is going to matter as much because he's only going to need that speed in situations where he'll be able to take long strides.
